That would be super cool my brother. It needs the Bob Blessing.

See you Thursday. You'll need all the help you can get.

Ok so 600 pm on Thursday at the shop. Who's all coming?
#145
I'm in. May have to leave for a quick work thing from 7-8, but will come back.
#146
I am coming. I may not work but I need guy time.
#147
You guys are the best. There us plenty for all to do... Way into the wee hours.

I asked my boss to leave early and this is his response...
If you wanted to come in at 5, that would work better than leaving early since your team is here at night.

Im still working on this...

Does anyone have a hydro assist steering box for a TJ I could borrow for the weekend? Sent mine to PSC for a rebuild and even though they shipped it, it won't be here in time for the race Friday/Saturday. :-( If I can borrow yours for the weekend I would greatly appreciate it! LOL If it's not one thing, it's another...

Hey Alan, I have an extra steering box, but you'd have to tap it for hydro, not sure you have time for that. What about racing without hydro assist? I would think it would be fine for most of the race unless you have the whole jeep leaning on the tire in the direction you need to turn. You could use royal purple sterring fluid to make sure you don't burn up the fluid, I know some people that use it in their toyota's without hydro on 37s.

Obviously it would be easier to have hydro, just throwing out ideas. You're more than welcome to use my extra box and abuse it as necessary. (take that anyway you want)

Benchworks is local and may be able to tap it in time.

Thanks Russ. I picked up the shafts yesterday and took them to Andrew. He has them now. Good to go here.

MasterCraft didn't ship my stuff yesterday, but they at least called and are shipping today and overnighting, so I'll get it tomorrow (safety nets).

There is so much "win" in this thread, i don't know where to start....

Let me see if Geoff can tap a box (wow) and talk to Andrew about the impact of running without hydro assist on my pump (if any).

Shaft. (I just wanted to add one more dirty jeep word to complete the set: pump, shaft, box. I feel dirty now...)

Thank you, Matt.

*** Not racing Dirt Riot this weekend ***

I am extremely disappointed, but following the advice of Andrew, my crew chief for this whole thing, even if we a steering box solution, the car won't be ready or tested in time for this weekend's race.

The work night for Thursday night is cancelled as I won't have a car to work on. Thank you each and every one for your committment. I'm sure we'l have another night soon, just not Thursday for the Dirt Riot.

Also, I do plan on attending with the LetzRoll team this weekend as a crew member and spectator, but since I'm not racing, it's up to you if you want to come down or not. I understand if the only reason was to watch me race and you want to do other things this weekend. I appreciate the thoughts and support.

are you still going to wear your firesuit? that was what i was looking forward too. i think i am still in are you going down saturday now or friday still?
#157
That stinks Alan. At least we're that much closer to having you ready for KOH.
#158
Yep.

Here's the new plan.

Attend Dirt Riot this weekend to be in the pit, go through tech, see what's going on.

Car at LetzRoll up until January 22nd (a Sunday). I have a lot of work things going on next week, so that's the first day I can go get it.

Week of the 22nd - 27th the HG PitCrew gets a crack at it. We'll look to schedule a wrenching party one night during this week.

Sat/Sun the 28th and 29th - vehicle testing (times and places TBD). Test "go fast", crawling, camera set up and quality, and just generally use as much gas as possible dialing things in, getting AIST, and getting used to a helmet and firesuit for hours on end.

30th - 1st - button up the race car for KOH with anything found during testing. (I fly out for work on the 1st and won't return until late the evening of the 2nd).

Depart for KOH the morning of the 3rd according to the KOH trip document.

Stay tuned for updates and for wrenching parties!

Still going to be fun.

For prep week, or actual Hammers week? I didn't match your surgeries up with the trips yet. Let me know, man. Even if your only job is to look slick all day, your seat in the PitCrew is yours and you are welcome in any capacity you feel comfortable with.
