Don't think it is going happen. Surgery is to close to departure date. I wish I could but I don't think I would be up to it. I will know more tomorrow.

Yep cancelled indeed, definitely skimmed right over that post!

alanzona wrote:Does anyone have a hydro assist steering box for a TJ I could borrow for the weekend? Sent mine to PSC for a rebuild and even though they shipped it, it won't be here in time for the race Friday/Saturday. :-( If I can borrow yours for the weekend I would greatly appreciate it! LOL If it's not one thing, it's another...

I just caught up. Sounds pretty hectic but here is another option. I have a spare 2006 Mercedes TJ/LJ steering box that has been freshly rebuilt by Benchworks. If you need it it's yours. It will need to be tapped for assist and you probably will still need all of the other stuff. Just a thought unless you are covered for the Hammers race?

Thanks Cecil. I'm covered for the Hammer's race. PSC rebuilt my steering box, but unlike Mastercraft that got my window nets here today, the steering pump wouldn't arrive until late tomorrow afternoon. After consideration and consultation with Andrew, we made the decision that driving a new build for the first time in a race (with no testing and an incomplete build) wasn't going to help us with the Hammers and would pose a higher risk for injury and/or vehicle distruction that WOULD jeapordize our Hammers run, so we made the call to skip this one, get the car perfect, and hit it hard at the Hammers with a complete and tested race car.... so, my first actual race is the Hammers. I'm a moron. LOL I sincerely appreciate the offer my friend.

Another epic adventure with your freshly built adventuress (the Jeep not Geoff).
#169
LOL thanks for clarifying!
#170
Hope this gets finished for you soon Alan.

On a positive note... Brown Santa brought my "go fast" MasterCraft safety nets today...

Phoenix Rack and Axle did a great job on my drive shafts (one had to be lengthened and one to be shortened), plus I put 6 brand new U-Joints everywhere it's legal to stick a U-Joint in the state of Arizona...

And Geoff (Mr. Geoffrey Wizard Macgyver to you) took these simple and unrelated parts and turned them into a magical blend we like to call "Fluid Catches" for my race car...

In other news, Mr. Michael has the race numbers done (here is the rear plate that will bolt onto the tool storage Geoff built)

and Geoff and I both have helmets now to protect our marvelous heads (special shout out to one Mr. Bill Ball for the use of his shiny black helmet... my noggin' thanks you too!)

Lol no problem Alan hope your bean stays in tact!

Great time at the Dirt Riot this past weekend. Even though we pulled the plug on racing the rig, the people and event were great! I even got to pull a few laps as co-dawg in Andrew's 4493 car to get dirty and say I got to play!

This week is final push on the rig with fuel system, skins, and final welding being completed. Next week is the HigherGround Pit Crew week to wrap up wiring and final graphics and full blown testing is scheduled the weekend of the 28th and 29th to tune suspension and get some AIST.

Work in progress...

In other news... the jeep is becoming a Redhead again. I painted the hood this week (left the cool HG bird logo on when I painted it, so when I pull it off, I expect a flat black logo embedded in the shiny red paint. Should look good. Why paint it, you ask? Simply vanity of how it photographs in rocks. The black blends in too much. Red does not. From a marketing point of view, I want our jeep featured in as many KOH related items and post run pictures as possible. The marketing lady who was at Dirt Riot (who is also the marketing lady for KOH) said if you had a black or silver jeep... paint it or sell it because you won't be in any pictures unless you win. Red jeeps photograph well. Simple as that. 8) For HigherGround4x4.com, for LetzRoll Offroad Racing, and for the awesome roof art that I have yet to see... I'm going to make some post race press. LOL

The rig should be driving under it's own power today with final LetzRoll button up tomorrow. I'll pick it up this weekend and then we'll work out a schedule for what needs to be done next week. Rock on!

(oh yeah... pics or it didn't happen, right? See I do look good in a firesuit. LOL)

you know what they say about redheads....

Funny e-mail exchange with Andrew:

Me:

Good morning brother. Just checking on the status of the TJ. I’m about to head into a brutal couple of days and was planning the weekend. - AJ

Andrew:

what TJ???... O you mean the Ultra 4 Pro mod buggy yea its going. We are just about done with fuel cell and firewall. Steering is in need to blead and test. Rear "studs" Im picking up today and we need to machine them to work. This weekend is good to go.

LOL Ultra 4 Pro/Mod Buggy. I like the sound of that. 8)

Well, I painted the hood a nice, shiny red and left the vinyl graphics that Mike created on while I painted...

After everything was dry, I peeled the vinyl off and now I have a killer new hood with shiny red paint and a super killer flat black HG4x4 custom graphic courtesy of Mr. Skatchkins. So good.

In addition to celebrating my birthday while at the Hammers, the race is dedicated to Scott Boone since he won't be there (of course, if I win, you know I have to dedicate it to my Momma. I am from the South you know). Scott has been kind enough to order Moyamoya wrist bands (www.moyamoya.com) for all of us that will be doing the Hammers. Scott was on Pit Crew, but won't be able to make it due to his surgery (he keeps trying to make me be "nice" to him since he "had a stroke", but eh... I took his candy anyway.) so this race is for him. If you aren't on pit crew but want a wrist band to support Scott, shoot him a PM and he'll get 'cha one ordered. Wish you could make it buddy, but we'll be praying for you.

Very cool Alan! The hood and the bracelet. I'm jealuos of both.
#178
The hood is pure sexiness

Alan what's the help schedule for you look like this week?

If possible, I would really like to do a work night on Friday night. There is a ton of stuff to do this week and Geoff and I are knocking stuff down, but a Friday night work party prior to Saturday testing would be KILLER.
