Car 4511 Build Thread

Guys, I really can't say enough about Pit Bull Tires.

I've been hearing for 3 months that "you are moving to Goodyear... you are getting Goodyears... the whole team will be on Goodyears." I didn't see any tires. I also didn't burn my bridge with Pit Bull. Honestly, I like the Pit Bull Tire better and was pretty bummed about changing. 2 years of racing, 1 fluke flat, I know them, I trust them, and they have done me right.

Well, Goodyear flaked today. LOL. Of course. You know, I was actually relieved. I picked up the phone, called Michael Green at Pit Bull Tires, and they have picked me up for 2014. 8 new 37 x 12.5 x 17 Rocker Radials are on their way, along with new patches, hats, and stickers. Total class act all the way and I am THRILLED to get to keep racing on Pit Bull Tires. I'm truly glad it worked out this way.

Shout out to Jason Hurst, Shawn Hurst, Joe Pierce, Mike Bradley, Jeff Wilstead, and Kyle Prettyman. Final thrash on the #4511 is underway and the guys will have her in tip top shape for the lakebed.

Kyle always keeps an eye on my frame. I'm a little rough on cars and he found a few cracks. He has dared me to try and break his repair... Challenge accepted!

I AM an expert at trying to find the weak link... as evidenced by my little "How to LetzRoll Your Buggy" video. Evidently, Andrew needs me around for a bit longer, so they decided to beef up my cage with some additional A Pillar support. Thank you, guys.

Joe Pierce and Andrew took on the task of relocating my new rear bypass shocks, along with repositioning my 2.5" ADS Racing Shocks coil overs. It required having to basically redo the entire rear when it came to shock brackets and my rear sway bar. Here are some progress shots. The buggy will be on her own weight by Friday.

Here is a follow up to the dash going in. I posted a framed out shot. Here are the skins. They will be either wrapped or painted, but you can see the layout. The center console will have the gauges and switches and such. Over on the passenger side, you can see the cut out for the GPS. It will be recessed into the dash.

More updates later this week. Car goes to wrap on Monday.

You and me both, man... LOL. Stupid wrap.

Here is a mock up of the wrap. The base wrap is at the printer and has been printed (base wrap is the graphics, ESAB logo, and LROR logo). Everything else will be a sticker added to the wrap. We were struggling with where to put some of the sponsor decals within context of the wrap, so here is one of the "ideas" for logo placement. This will obviously evolve (Goodyear goes off, Pit Bull goes on, etc...) but we have decided on using Lexan for the "triangle" behind the cab for additional sponsor space. I'll be sure to post pics once it's done and we'll see how close we got. :-)

Happy! Final pic (still needs the Raceline Wheels and the ADS logos, but pretty much buttoned up!)
