Yup... looks like NF-237 (like I would recognize NF-237 if it walked up and smacked me... anyway, God Bless Google Maps, too...). I agree with not paying $18 for a toilet seat (although, after Sc00by's post on cell phones in the bathroom... I may never go again..., but I digress), but it's fairly close - if there is an emergency - to head to Kachina Village for all the sissies (ha!). Those of us with tube bumpers, evidently qualify... anyway. We have two weeks to figure this out, but man this is going to be fun!!!

The only campsites near the creek are those along the road, and the problem with those is they cost too much, they're too small, and you're generally 5 feet away from the next group of campers. and about 10 feet from the highway.

I think with the number of people going, primitive camping might be the only logical option. I have an old toilet in my back yard that I could throw in the back of my truck and bring along for those afraid of pooing in the woods, but I'm not going to be the one to bring it back. There's always the whizzy for the women folk

Hmmm. Harding point off FR535 overlooks where Dana got proposed to.
Dispersed camping allowed:
http://www.2az.us/mtb-harding-point.html

Overview: Scenic overlook of Sedona’s famed red-rock country and the wilds of Oak Creek.

Description: Take I-17 north to SR 179, go to Sedona and SR 89A, go north on SR 89A to FR 535. Take FR 535 west (2WD OK) to the junction with 535A; park, then ride 4 miles on FR 535A to the point. Or, park at the second viewpoint, do a shorter ride and take pictures galore!

Ride: Intermediate, quiet, dirt forest road, easy in and easy out.

Cool! Depending on is my roof rack is ready tonight from Daryl or not, we'll be heading to the 6:15 service. I got my XJ yesterday, so we'll be taking that. Here are some preliminary shots: www.alanrjohnson.com/XJ/index.html and here are some shots of the roof rack being built and the rock sliders that should be in on Tuesday... I smell another rock slider write up! LOL www.alanrjohnson.com/other/index.html

... campin' is going to have to be good to erase the pain of my Razorback's loss to Alabama tonight... I may have to go to both services tomorrow, seeing as how I lost my religion (once) during the game in the last 14 seconds...

Never thought I'd say this to guy, but I do envy Scooby's rack.
I really need to finally get mine.

Woah!!!!! 8|

LOL :)g)

Well its home made, me & my son built it over 2 weekends.
Materal cost just over $150. Cheap when you compare it to the Surco rack on the Durango @ $300 :'(

Hey I just got word my are being done as we speak.

PS

I have a real Jeep. LOL I will let you know if my kids need a ride to a soccer game.

I had to go there. I have to pro-tect my tube bumpers. :)
#73
LOL I almost changed my signature line to read "An XJ counts as a real jeep, right guys? right?!?!?! If I call it an XJ, instead of a Cherokee, that's good, right??? <sigh> oh well... guess I'll go sit with the Xterra."

Feel free to go there, buddy. I'm looking at the two (my YJ and my XJ) in the driveway... feeling a bit conflicted! LOL ...

and yes, since I have more room now, your kids can have a ride to the soccer game and yes, you can store all the gear you can't fit in your "real Jeep" when the family is in it in my XJ. I'll carry it for you. I wonder what chrome tube bumpers and spinners would look like... hmmmmm. Where did that mall go...
#74
Hey my tube bumbers are BLACK. My rims rock why be like everyone else? I dont need to have you take anything for me as I have an Unlimited so I have just as much room as you. But again I still have a real Jeep. :)

PS

The game starts at 8am Sat.

LOL

:cool) Too funny. I know better than to pick on a "real Jeep"... I do still drive a real Jeep too, remember! (The YJ is out front right now making my XJ cry... calling it a sissy... asking if it wants some milk... kicking sand in it's face... you know, those types of things! LOL)

Hey, you and I need to coordinate the kids fishing a little more. We're thinking about trout fishing up around Heber in the next couple weeks. Maybe that will be easier than trying to fit it into the Sedona run. What 'cha think?
#76
Nice sig. LOL

I could do that too. BUt the boys are really wanting to try fishing up in Sedona too.
#77
Well, I hate to tell you guys, but... I went to Sedona on a pre-run this past weekend and used up all the fun.
Steve and I went and checked out the camp area, stood on the edge of the canyon, saw animalies, played in the mud, got hailed on, etc.
So we have to pick a new place now :)=)

We picked two differring camp spots and we can all figure out which suits us best. I'll post some pics when I get home later today of the area.

Also, discuss amongst yourselves this: There has been talk, by those that can, about a group leaving on Friday. All times were discussed so just put in your two cents. It's not a requirement, the main trails will be run on Saturday, and Sunday is still a do what you want day. Friday would just give you an extra day of camping and to do aything else you can think of squeezing in. Steve and his fam, will most likely be leaving Friday, which would probably help in securing a good large (18 people at last count?) camp spot.
#78
it would be good if steve can grab the camp spot ahead of time for us

Ill definately being going up saturday, megan wont get off work until 5pm on friday and I dont want to try and find the camp spot in the dark

Nice, Ill just pick one up online. From what it looks like you only need one per vehicle and that covers all occupants?
