Moab May 4-7th: Official Farewell Trip
#81
So I've sprung Kate officially from both Thursday and Friday's school, so we can head out with the full group on Thursday. Are we planning a "meet up and caravan" thing, or everyone meeting up there or on the road? What are we thinking?
#82
Awesome news! Plan is to meet up and drive. Im thinking that it will be the gas station off carefree.

I have to figure out my trailer loading plan. Lenny's trailer is at his place in munds park. I either need to find time to go get it and bring it down here or see if we have an extra driver and just drive both vehicles to the trailer and load it on the way.

I get back in town the Tuesday night before we leave, so if you want to run up Wednesday afternoon / evening, I'll go with you. I don't have a spare driver for Thursday. Jen's really nervous driving other people's vehicles and she wouldn't be comfortable driving our Jeep up to Munds Park since it's a 5 speed. :-/

Thanks Alan, I appreciate the offer. I'll let you know if I don't have the trailer or a driver by that Tue.

Hey guys it is Lenny. Getting ready for the trip. What handheld radio's are you guys using? I would like to buy one for the trip and also be able to use it on my other trips

This is what most of us use in the jeeps anymore.
https://www.amazon.com/BaoFeng-UV-5R-Dual-Radio-Black/dp/B007H4VT7A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1491833531&sr=8-2&keywords=hand+held+radios
Not sure how usable they are for other trail rides unless you have other people running HAM or they have the same radio. I have an extra one if you want to try before you buy. Just let me know.

Ok. Great. I see there is an upgraded 8watt one. I assume it should work even better. I doubt other radios I have will work with it but I was going to switch to something better so this might be the best bet. Looks like I should buy the radio and programming cable for best results? Is there a certain channel you guys use I need to program it to?

There is but I don't have the programming. Let me look tonight and see if I can find the info.

Avis did you program your own or did one of the guys at the shop do it?

Yes, you do need the cable and the software to change settings on the radio...

I have two, and the first one Letzroll programmed their channels in it for me. The second one I bought I was able to copy and paste all the settings from the first one into the second one and it worked for me.

With that being said, I should be able to copy and paste all the settings into an email and send them over to you. It'll give you "KOH1" and "KOH2" channels. Beyond that, I have no idea how to program them.

I have the cable and programming capabilities. All I need is one of the radios so I can clone it, then transfer the settings to the new radios.

Yeah, that's exactly what I did. Worked well.

Will there be trip stickers?

"Bye, bye, Alan. :("

"Gnome but not forgotten"
#97
"the Gnome went home"

"Don't check on Alan yet"
#98
I like those. LOL
#99
Speaking of stickers (and a trip sticker would be awesome, but I wasn't going to ask... LOL)... when did we decide "Sticker night" was going to be?
