Labor Day trip... to Moab
#81
Lets talk about food:

City Market- Fry’s by another name. Great place to pick up anything and everything. Also a good meeting spot to start the day.

Village Market- Like a whole foods but smaller and not as much $. They have great biscuits and gravy to go. They also have a great varity of fruit and other healthy stuff for trail snacks.

You will be on your own for pre trial food and mid trail food. Plan on having lunch on the trail every day. Its going to be HOT so have more water than you think you will need.

Dinner: So many great places to eat. Most of them will all be about the same price. You are not required to have dinner with the group. If you want to kick it back at the camp and grill up some grub you are welcome to do that.

Never Been to Moab

I have all Thursday off, so I'm free to leave whenever we need to. Earlier the better IMO, but really doesn't matter.

True. However I dont see us leaving till 1pm at best. If we leave by 2 that should put us in Moab about 10pm.

Sounds good.

Hey Bob - hit me up about a CB to use in Moab. Mine is still on my work bench and you are welcome to install it for Moab usage. It's the all in one hand piece type.

I know Derrick from work will be off at Noon.

Don’t feel rushed or stressed that you cant get off work till 4pm. Its not like we are going to be wheeling when we roll in to Moab. Hmmmm... Moab night run. I like the sound of that.

Anyway I digress.

I just want to try and nail down some times to post up some more info.

exp. "meet at the ____ off the 17 at ___ pm, so we can ____ and then hit the road"

Also, other than Chris and myself, who has been to Moab?

I can be whenever that day. I'll most likely take the whole day, or just do some stuff from homw till it's time to go.

For meeting up, I'm far north valley Happy valley or north is preferable for me.

If my boss with the Hemi JK goes he's been a bunch. He just sent me an e-mail yesterday with some info about that weekend. The group that does Easter Jeep Safari has a smaller Labor Day event that we should look at. We'll want to make sure to plan our runs around them, or sign up to join them. http://www.rr4w.com/events/laborday Sep 1-3rd

Bob, those stores are in Moab?

Are you planning breakfast and dinner at local spots; lunch and snacks on the trail?

I just looked at their runs and I dont believe it will cause an issue. Even if we run into them on the trail there is more than enough room.

The plan as it sits in my head.

Fri- Hells Revenge/ swimming / Arches national park (great place to be when the sun sets) http://www.rr4w.com/trails/hells_revenge

Sat- Poison Spider- its an all day run but all the rigs should make it just fine. http://www.rr4w.com/trails/poison_spider_mesa

Sun- Fins and things- I have not done this one yet. http://www.rr4w.com/trails/fins_and_things

Take a look at some of the other trails and if you guys see something you "must do" please let me know. I want to make sure you all have a great time.

I have a spare Dana 30 axle in my garage with a locker in it. I can't find any difference between the aussie locker for the XJ D30 and and WJ D30 online. I know they're essentially the same in the pumpkin, so I'm wondering if I should throw the locker in the shiny jeep before Moab. Anyone know for sure if it will fit? Daniel, you want to help me put it in?

Not sure if there are any differences, but more then happy to help assuming our schedules work out. What'd you have in mind?

I know this is thinking to far ahead, but I REALLY want to do a night run one of the nights... so, for those of you who have been, and know the area, keep a trail in mind for that. :)

probably in a few weeks. is it better for you to come to me? or me to go to you? would have to plan on cooling time if I head out there.
#94
It doesn't matter to me, I have a car now so I don't mind driving to you if that makes things easier.
#95
cool, I'll text you when I'm ready to do this.

I'd skip Fins and Things and do Top of the World.
