(russ is now in a corner curled up in a ball, sucking his thumb, while calling for his mommy and repeating over and over this is just a dream"

Had some asking for fishing, stars, lake time, and swimming so Dana and Jonathan accompanied she and I to the coves Friday night. We caught 5 large catfish, got the craziest lightning show on the lake and above us, and got poured on for a healthy while a couple times. But we were prepared to swim so we stayed out in it :)
She and I walked up the right hill and out to the point and swam out there. On the way back the cloudy moonlight shown just enough to make out the coiled non-rattling rattlesnake less than two feet away on the tight brushed trail. "Stop for a second and take two steps back slowly please." Some people have what could nicely be called a phobia. After 10min of consoling, I returned, moved the snake and carried on the rest of the way up and then back down to the vehicles with a clinging weight riding on my back. A large owl on the trail also let me walk 5ft up on it before it gave in and flew away. Got home and cleaned the fish in the rising daylight.

Friday drove out late with Melissa to watch the storm over the White Tanks. Watched the lightning from atop the Xterra rack in the middle of a field of roses. I may have snuck off and picked a few.

Saturday Jeep trip. Alan, you were there.

Then drove up to Cottonwood. Fished on the Verde, the storm passed just along side of us.

Caught catching a fish.

She found this in the bushes

Swam for a bit then fished more

Drove into old town, walked around exploring, with her in charge of the camera. Then ate at the Tavern.

On sat took off at 11:30 and made my way to Chino Valley. After a few delays (i was ok with since I now have AC thanks to Avis!) I made it to Chino at 1:45. Just in time for a HUGE rain storm that cooled it down to the mid 60's.
Hooked up with the parts guy got a new front end for the Ford and made my way to the 95 out side of clints well.
Drove down via Jerome and Cottonwood. Saw the X heading the other way (just kidding).
Made it to my camp spot just before dark. Set up my cot next to my truck. Had my .40 on the wheel of the truck and the 12 in my cot with me. Had a nice big fire going and as I was about to fall asleep I had a turkey make some noise. Then I had a coyote start making noise. Sounded off about 1/4 mile or so.
Fell asleep for a few and was woken when the sky went white! I was up out of my bag and all the stuff was in the truck before it started to rain. Spent the night cramped into the ex-cab.
On a cool side note. There was a coyote no more than 20 yards from me that I didn't see till the sky lit up. He was all sorts of pissed and made a bunch of noise.
Next morn I had a turkey in my camp and I got one to call back to me when I was in the forest.
All in all it was a good weekend.

Drove over to the Gila River near Avondale and 'splored around. Got some more AZ pin-striping and then found a spot to hike around. Found a lost abandoned boat and a bunch of ducks.

This was a good spot
