...just had an old lady ask if I'd collect and make her a secret CD for her family to play when she dies. She's already written letters to all her kids and grandchildren and hidden them. Her ashes are to be scattered on the Colorado (California side). The first song is the one she and her husband danced to on their first date. The last one is Via Con Dios, the last song her father sang and played on the guitar before he died.
His favorite saying was regarding curse words, "If you wouldn't put it in your mouth, you shouldn't say it."
She's not on the very verge of death, but wanted all her ducks in a row. I asked her what she had planned afterwards, where'd she be then. She said, "I guess the ocean. Don't the Colorado go there?"
We did talk some more and get down to the real, albeit less comical answer. She is a believer and knows with certainty she will go to heaven.
She said she knows she needs to be ready because of a dream she had had. In it, her close brother visited and told her not to worry about where he was now but his plane had crashed and he and his friends and wife had been killed- Even as descriptive as which one was crushed by the engine and which one had been ejected. After waking her husband and describing the dream, the phone rang 3 hours later in the morning. Her mother was calling to give them the news that Cork had been in an accident. She was the first to tell her mother that he was actually dead.
Not trying to be deep, just relaying what happened in my otherwise boring day.
