Something on the 28th, 29th
#1
A few of you reserverd the weekend of the 28th for the car wash and since that is postponed indef, how about something else.
I mentioned in another thread that Steve wanted to go out to Fossil Creek but couldn't when I did my Short last week. He wants to camp out at the actual spring (and in his words do like Bear from Man Vs Wild does).
2 ways to do this. Anyone who wants to go, or we could make this our annual Manmping trip. If this were the case J, you could get Dana to pregnantsit with Jen while you were gone.
So this was Steve's idea. His wifey and kids will be away in NY that weekend so he really wants to play "young not tied down guy" with us.
It would be the 28th-29th.
So players are you in?
Here I will call you out by name so there's no excuse:
Jared?
Jonathan?
Chris?
Michael?
Bob?
(nate will be out of town being tied down )
And any of the lurkers or friends of the mainsters are more than welcome to come pass the testosterone pipe around the camp fire. ... wait that sounded bad... there are campfire restrictions.

Let me know now or else I'll have to plan something else for my olden friend.

Distance : 4 miles

Hiking Time: 2 hours

Difficulty: Moderate

Signed : Yes

Marked trailhead: Yes

Season of use: Spring , summer and fall

Trail condition: Most of it good

Access roads: good

Use restrictions: No motorized or mechanical equipment including trail bikes. Mountain bikes are permitted on the road, but not in the wilderness area. From the parking area near the Irving Power Plant an old jeep road follows the moderately sloped flume to the springs. The first half mile leads to the level of the flume road. Please do not walk on the flume which follows the trail to the springs. If you have two cars, one can be parked at the beginning of each trail (upper #98 and flume #154) so it is not necessary to return over the same trail. If you go in via the upper trail and out by the flume trail, your hike will be generally downhill and much easier than in the reverse direction.

This trail makes for a great day trip out of the heat of Phoenix. Fossil Creek Spring Trail is located just outside of the town of Strawberry which is a small town located north of Payson, about one and a half hours from Phoenix. At an elevation of 6,000 feet, summer temperatures rarely rise above the mid 80โ€™s.
The trail is actually an old jeep trail, which is nice because it allows for side-by-side hiking. After dropping into the canyon for about 2.5 miles, you get to a dry riverbed. Hang a left, and follow the river for another 10 minutes. For your efforts you will be rewarded with a small piece of paradise. A million gallons of spring water gush out of the ground every hour creating a lush environment of trees and swimming holes. While at 72 degrees it is not technically a hot spring, it makes for a great summer cool down. Sitting on the banks of the swimming hole beneath the shade of the trees and watching the people swing on the rope was a great place to have lunch. Luckily, someone had brought along a small set of swimming goggles, because the natural deep pools were full of crystal clear water and lots of fish.

No, I am stupid for having forgotten. Steve was all hyped up on his Man vs Wild kick.
If Bob and Jon are set on going to Evan's I won't back out.
Chris sounded like he couldn't go.
Jared was in on the camp.
We shall see.

Yeah... why not wait for 2 months to go on a trip?
This is why I'm going on my own trips.

is Steve planning on doing like Bear and eating the fish raw and still squirming?

Saw him do that again last night, he bites the trout right behind the head to break their backbone and just rips off the head and eats the rest raw :)=)
