We're taking I-17 to Camp Verde.
Leaving at 7am

where are we meeting at ? your place?

We might want to think about bringing some firewood. The chances of finding some up there that is dry wont be very good if this rain keeps up all week.

Who are our drivers?

I thought it was no burn?
#26
I have no idea, cant see why it would be with all the rain we will be getting over the next couple days. Unless it is no burn because they are just trying to get the area back to its natural habitat.

Mike, can you answer this question for us?

Coconino Forest Site says: There are no fire restrictions on the Coconino National Forest at this time.

However, clicking their news release link states: Fires, campfires and charcoal fires are prohibited outside of developed campgrounds.

I don't think anyone wants to hike wood in anyway.

But if you want J: Red Rock Ranger District at (928) 282-4119

I keep forgetting about the stupid hike. I will call and check if we can have fires, if so we might want to bring a piece or to just to get the fire stared and to help dry out the other wood we collect.

I just got off the phone with Coconino forest services and Fossile Springs in divided down the middle between Coconino and Tonto. The west side of the springs is Coconino and the east side is Tonoto.

Coconino has lifted all fire restrictions and I am going to call Tonto right now and see if they are still in stage 2 or if they have also lifted all restrictions.

The guy from Coconino said he was down there last weekend doing clean up and there are still a good amount of people back by the damn camping.

Hopefully with the rain their wont be as many people.

Tonto Nationl Forest is currently still in stage 2 but as of Thurday 7/26 all fire restrictions will be lifted. She confiremed that on Saturday we will be able to have fires.

I might be able to drive but cant go over 65mph in the jeep. Somethins still up with my #6 cylinder, go any faster and the engine feels like it cuts out

I picked up my food for the weekend today, got a few freeze dried dinners from Sportsmans Warehouse on my lunchbreak

Do we know if there is fish in the river? I have a small fishing pole I can bring if there is

Also what are we bringing for rain shelter?
#34
Our standard two tarp system, but plan to be swept up in the building of a shelter.
There were trout all over when I was there a couple weeks ago. Clear enough to see them all around you.
We can just make this a Nissan trip since we have gear.
Jon, Steve, and I are getting food today

So Chris, how are wanting to hike it?
Shorter down the east trail or longer on the Flume rd?

Or do what some people do when they park vehicles in different places, hike the steep down hill 2.7mi fast part then take the easier 5mi rd out?
#39
hike down and out flume sounds good for the easiest

hiking in from flume road might be nice though too. Im expecting the start of the trail down the hill to have lots of people since that is the normal way in

Id think the flume road would be less crowded for camping

Im all for going downhill, uphills I dont like so much

I am all for just taking the flume road both ways. So what if it is a little longer, im sure the view is nice and we are not in any hurry.
