The last job I was on used several semi loads on old reclaimed wood from the east coast..
some of it was really cool, so i grabbed some extra pieces.
Decided I would build a table for under my TV... had the metal, used angle for the sides and set in a piece of half inch plywood and sealed it up. Round legs, with adjustable feel on it as well. Well, I picked the two best pieces out of the bunch and planned them down about 1/4 inch so that they would be below the edge of the angle.
So far the table hasn't cost me a cent.. but he expensive part is yet to come, I wanted to pour the table with a self leveling resin like that use on bar tables. A quart of this stuff is $25 and will only cover 6 sqf at 1/16 of an inch thick. Well, because of the wood I used.. the resin will be an 1/8 thick in some spots, and close to an inch thick in other spots. I figured doing it in 3 coats was the best way, and here is the first coat dry... so far, very happy with it. All said and done, the resin will come to the height of the angle and it'll be smooth all the way across. I plan on getting some LED rope light to weave in and out of whatever Chelcee wants to decorate with so that even when it's dark you can see the depth of the wood.
