fuel pump died?
#21
its fixed, kinda feel dumb though :)

I was looking at the PDC (thats the fuse box underhood) and like I said before there was no power to the fuel pump relay. I did read that after 2-3 seconds of the engine being on the fuel pump relay would power down unless the jeep is running. So i double checked that it had no power by setting up my vid camera and recording the tester while I checked. Still no power

So I was looking through my FSM and trying to understand the wiring diagrams and the circuit for the fuel pump.

I ended up replacing the fuel pump 20a fuse, not the relay again and it started right up.

lesson learned from this was triple check everything. I know I checked those fuses and relays at least 2x and they were good, I know I swapped them around with other fuses and relays to test too

Maybe the other parts we replaced had something to do with it, maybe not

Either way I ended up doing about $400 worth of preventitive maintenance on the jeep and learned alot along the way

and now it runs

Who wants to go wheeling?

Since I had these, I thought Id throw the pics up.

Replacing the fuel pump is pretty easy, support the tank with a few floor jacks, unbolt tank, disconnect fuel lines and lower it

After its out, you need to remove the lock ring that holds the pump into place. You can get it out using a very large strap wrench but I couldnt find one that fits. Its much easier to go to autozone and rent the fuel pump removal tool

After that, just pull out the old pump, and be careful not to spill gas and place new pump back in. Torque down the lock ring to factory specs and reinstall the tank
