Met Shane over at Knuckle Busters to pick up a Kaos Krawlers sticker and while I was there I put the XJ on the RTI ramp.. I figure there's no better place to trouble shoot an XJ lol

Need to get the proper coils, and ditch the spacers. Also, shocks that are the correct length and Dave made sure to remind me to buy longer brake lines too so i don't have a nasty surprise lol

Good to know. Then you are ready for DieHard?

Took it out tonight for the first time... Got on the freeway for the first time, and it doesn't like going above 60.. and my check engine light came on. lol Bob knows what thats like..

Did good though, needs new shocks... still have a headache. I think I lost my power steering on the way home. Goes in and out when turning, but could just be low on fluid.

Tires do rub... but whatever. And, a bonus for us was a huge storm blew in and I got some awesome pictures.

Not yet, I had my scanner with me but the OBD port had no power to it. So I gottta find the fuse and replace it

So I screwed around with the jeep today.. whoever did electrical work on this thing should never be allowed to touch wire again.. lol

All said and done, I got nothing fixed, and I'm more confused then when I started.

I've traced and checked everything that has to do with the OBD2 port, and still I can't get it to turn on the scanner..

One thing I forgot to mention... I pulled the knob out to turn the headlights on last night, and noticed my dash lights weren't on. So, I turned the knob to bring up the lights and when they came on my radio shut off.. It took me a little bit to put 2 and 2 together, but finally I started turning it back so my dash lights would turn off and my radio came back on! I don't have any clue how you manage to wire a radio into the headlight switch... so I gotta figure that one out. But more importantly is the OBD port.. I need to figure out what the CEL is. I've done everything I could find on the web and the pin that's supposed to have power, has power and the fuses check out good... only thing I can think of is rechecking to make sure I didn't miss a ground that wasn't secure.. I did find several ground straps the other day that never got hooked back up when they did the motor swap.

Also, I found the exhaust leak today... didn't take long... LOL

Do the turn the key to run three times trick and get the codes as they show on the odometer display, assuming that works. Still gotta figure out why the port doesn't work, but at least you'll know what the code is for.

Jeep looks good out there. Can't wait to get out there with you.

Good idea! Forgot all about that trick.

Thanks! It'd had been far to long since I could go out and play like that... wasn't anything hard, but just have a jeep and that in the back of my mind knew it didn't matter if I broke it.. lol

Tried two different ways to get the Codes to display on th odometer, and every time I did it the computer is telling me that I have no codes to display. When I start the jeep, the light comes on... Bob must have touched this jeep.

Sorry...

lol

I just don't understand why the light is on if it doesn't have any codes.

Got my light bar mounted and hooked up yesterday... had to make some tabs for it, but I like the location.

Also spent about 5 hours figuring out the wiring mess that someone did on this poor thing.. It got to the point where I decided to just rip everything out that wasn't factory. Also, it apparently has an aftermarket alarm that likes to go off randomly. So, I'm still in the process of that.

Oh joy for wires.

Any way to keep the light bar from walking off?

I was thinking the same thing when I was uploading these pictures.. lol

They are alan heads (photoshop anyone?) underneath with lock washers and then lock tight with locking nuts... So, It would not be a quick get away with it and would be a pain.. but still, could be done. Beyond maybe putting some nylon locking nuts to make it even hard to get off, I'm not real sure...

ideas?

Tack the nuts in place?
