Mounting a winch on my Dodge
#1
Well, no work today...so after I put all my tools away from the trip I decided to mess around with seeing about mounting my winch. Still not completely sure how the bumper aspect of it will work/look after I get it mounted... but I"m limited on mounting options, so that will happen first then I'll make the bumper fit around it. I had to trim the grill/grill frame/hood latch for everything to fit with where I wanted the winch.

It'll be smooth and look good when I'm done.

You need a dual motor Gigglepin winch...

Whats it mounted to? Any worries on the mounting holding up to a heavy pull?

Looks good.

Zip ties?

Yes, unfortunately I do worry about it a little. It's 1/4 inch plate welded to the front crossmember and to the bumper brackets... It feels strong, but a 12000lb winch may disagree. This is really my only option so if it fails ill have to start all over with an actual full bumper build. Zip ties are always an option.

Thanks Guys! I'm really happy with how it turned out. Much better then I had expected it it to. Only issue so far is I can't use the push bar thing I had because of how it mounts it's to flimsy with the bumper being cut the way it is. So, I need to either buy or build another push bar for two reasons... 1: to be the first point of impact besides the winch, and 2: I need a place for my light bar.

Also on the to do list before I can use the winch is I need to order up a battery tray from Artec Industries and buy another yellow top. Not a necessity but It makes me feel better, and it's easier to route the winch wires if I add another battery to the passenger side.

Looks good with the push bar, but I need something wider that mounts either to the frame, or like this one to the bumper but on the outside of the bumper brackets vs the inside.

Looks good. Go test it out before you really need it.
