can you take off the bed instead of dropping the tank? is that any easier?

I've seen people just cut an access panel into the bed so that they can reach in without taking the bed off or dropping the tank.

lets cut a hole in the bed! Because removing 8 bolts is so much more work to get the bed off. :)

Cut off wheel is no different.
IF I were do that, I'd just slide a piece of wood or sheet metal above the tank and call it good :)

When my fuel pump went out, I had a full tank of gas so we took off the bed.

Eng is dead... 3 cyls put out less than 60 on the comp test. 200k hard miles its not worth doing a top end.
Aug 27, 2014 08:33 PM#171
That sucks.... Glad it worked out that you got something else to drive though!
I'll keep my eyes open for a motor for you. Not sure of your budget, but Caleb bought a brand new long block for around $1600 I think.

I got the dodge back and am driving it till the red truck is done. Cant do any more damage to the eng. It just sucks driving.
Anyway... I have a lead on two 5.9's with under 100K on them. Hope one pans out soon.

Found an eng but the seller left for the east coast today.
Text a guy about a 2wd 2500 with a bad trans and 140K on it... $600. Sold it.
Have a call into a guy on CL with a 5.9 trans and t-case. Dont know the miles yet
Aug 29, 2014 09:40 PM#175
good idea for you to get a trans with it

Zip it! Talked to the guy he had no clue as to how many miles were on it but he did know it ran good. That just seemed odd. When I asked about compression he said he did a vacuum test.
Just too many unknowns.

Sell the Dodge? Its what I am playing with. I don't have $ for an eng. And yes it may need a trans. Who knows... If I do sell it the $ should go to the Ford but Im betting it will go to lunch.

This would make me sad.
However, I don't have much room to talk seeing as how I sold mine.... plus, I'd love to see that ford running down the road. I need a car show buddy. :)
