There is a better update over on the build thread for the racer (
http://www.higherground4x4.com/forums/showthread.php?4432-Car-4511-Build-Thread )
Here is an "artist's rendition" - using the term "artist" loosely - of some of the subtle but important changes.
We decided against a stretch on the 37" tires. The 105" wheelbase does fine for crawling and in the desert, but what we ARE going to do is continue to lower the center of gravity by dropping the cage 6 inches and putting the seats lower into the tub with a new subfloor and seat mounts. Bigger shocks and losing the tub (replacing with Lexan) will continue to drop the weight. We are also moving the fuel cell back 12" and the spare tire back 12" to help distribute the weight a little more evenly. Bigger shocks, weight distribution, lower center of gravity, lighter by about 400 lbs is the plan for picking up additional speed (along with the AW4 that has overdrive and a better gear ratio for "go fast"). Boatsiding is still happening. Below mocks up the tire move back, the boatsides, and the cage lower. Current weight is 3900 lbs. Target weight will be 3200 lbs.
Top is current, bottom is in the mock up to get a visual of the new lines. Of course it will be ESAB wrapped by Dirt Riot nationals, but for the Ultra4 nationals, I'm going with a plasti-dip matte black and it will be the "stealth machine". Simple race numbers, ESAB, LROR, Yukon, and HG stickers only. Once its time to wrap, we'll peel off the plasti-dip then wrap it. If it turns out bad ass, however, we'll just make another set of skins and the flat black will be my trail skins! LOL.
