Manmping 2009 - August 7th wknd
#1
4th year for our official Manmping trip.

Last year's Manmping: http://www.higherground4x4.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1603&highlight=fossil+springs&page=2

This year we're going to a new place, but you should be able to figure out where if needed.

Camping will consist of two nights away from the vehicles camping- You will have to pack it all in.
Trail to camp from vehicles is only 25min but 600ft down.
Pack light, add-water lunches/dinners recommended. We will have a small fire.
Bring a couple water bottles but we will be directly on the creek so we'll refill with purifiers.
Tents will not only be frowned upon, but there is limited room for flat ground set-up so if you bring one you may be forced to share. Weather conditions will be posted in advance. Tarps are an option.
All of these factors should lighten your load considerably.

Other things to bring:
A cheap $4 Wal-Mart tube (or blow up device of your choice)
Shoes that will get wet
Bug spray
Sunscreen
And as always:
Weapons
Non-altered measuring tapes
Knowledge of the movie Fight Club and Boondock Saints

High Clearance carpooling, preferably 4wd will be discussed

Chat it up

Don't forget to get your tube for this trip ($4 at Walmart).
Also for the float/jump/hike section of the trip, you'll want a pair of shorts and shoes. A bag of some type will be helpful so you can throw a couple water bottles and snacks in for the float/hike. I have a waterproof one, but it's not necessary esp if you're just bringing wettable items.

Water: We'll have a water purifier on hand, so you can pack light on water. If you just bring a couple bottles you can refill them and be set. Camping is on the creek so we'll have water for boiling and everything else.

We can organize a little better when we meet at Alan's. That way every guy won't be packing a latern, stove, etc. No tents allowed, but we already have the tarps, so you won't need extra. You may be asked to strap an extra item to your backpack.

Rememember the plan is to leave at 2:00pm from Alan's.. So far, we should be good on vehicles.

well I would go but, since the economy is going to crash I decided to rack up a little extra credit card debt, and my wife was pissed cause all I buy is ammo :) so I am flying us out to Hawaii to see my Brother before he gets shipped out to afganistan (rag head country).

Just out of curiosity where is this place?

How bout pot?
I was thinking a little would work with the crawfish.
I wish I still had that trap I made for Bear Canyon a while back. If we make another, it'd be great to just leave in when we hike downstream and do our sweet jumps

is it at my house? I sorta remember a trap in the storage shed

I'll come check. I think maybe the nets were there but the trap got crushed in Nathan's garage.

Just now saw this. That looks like a great place to just enjoy the wilds.

If there's still room I'd like to go, but I'll have to let everyone know for sure if I'll be able to.
