Stolen XJ (Recovered)
#21
I just heard from Paul too.
What I heard was, that it was indeed crashed into a house. All his stickers had been removed even though it's still the only Camo XJ in the valley :eyeroll:
There were supposedly two large containers of Kerosene in the back for a little desert bonfire later. The suspects bailed when they saw they were going to hit the house and they may have used it in a bank robbery earlier in the day. 8|
He lost all his antennas and GPS systems but still has part of his Ham set up.
And he said he has pics of it in the house.

It must have taken them some to time to get all of the stickers off... they had to have planned to use that thing... planned out the capture. I am glad he did not have to go to the desert to find it and "ID" it 8|

Great news. I just called Paul to see if he still wanted me to make an annoucement on the ham radio net tonight. He said his CB is still there and the Yaesu looks intact. The body of the Kenwood is there, but he didn't see the face plate. Also missing the antennas. They think it was used in a bank robbery or homicide. He is waiting on HAZMAT to clear out the 110 gallons of kerosene in the back. 8|

110 Gallons... WOW! They were planning something bigger than just a vehicle burn... hmmm...
#25
Yeah, that's what I was wondering. That's 2 55 gallon drums. Maybe I heard him wrong, but he did say hazmat was there.

Nope you heard right...

Details are still fuzzy Cops arent saying too much...
Peoria PD light it up, he took off, ran thru a metal gate in a gated community
went thru several lawns and on 2 wheels enough force to make the tire carrier litteraly "pop" off too 1 drum hit the back window and took it out (again) then it hit a parked jeep the driver bailed and the jeep drove it self into a house, taking out a pillar and missing the living room by 4'
Praise God no one was hurt or worse.
Cops did catch him and he's rappin with 4-6 dect. on some stuff.
Jeep reeks  they stripped the rack and my dash Ive yet to remove everything and assess the total damages.
I will post up some pics later tonight.
Thanks to ALL for your willingness to help out and for keeping an eye out!

Well as promised...
1st off I pray no one has to go thru what we did today, but at the same time this was a GREAT lesson to my sons on RESPECT other peoples stuff...
We all felt violated and there was also some other sence of panic too as my check book was in the XJ and I had to make a mad scramble to get my account frozen & open a new one.
The nebighors, home owner, & Police were all in awe that the jeep held its own AND drove out of there too,
Steering is jacked up, and theres about 5+ gal of kerosene all over, front seats, front floor board, headliner, even the seat belts
I fear this may be the straw that "totals" the XJ
new CD-MP3 player is trashed along with my Kenwood & Yaesu
the CB appears to be good but the antenna is soaked up in kerosene.
Again thanks to EVERYONE!!!!

Wow! I still don't understand why people do what they do... I agree with your Respect comment. I try to teach that to my kids everyday. What can I do to help? Let's have a cleaning party... I will be there. Let me know.

As far as the Electronics... I would like to offer you my cost on anything you need. I have access to Kenwood, MP3 players, speakers, CB's, etc. Please let me at least help with the burden of replacing those at a much lower cost to you.

Talk to you soon,
Brian

Glad you got it back!

Let us know if you need help repairing any damages. Ill be glad to help out!

We could do a wrenching party and kill switches on the same day. Let us know what's needed Scooby.

Did they let you keep the 55 gallon drums of kerosene? We could strap this guy to them and I'll donate the match.

Glad you at least got it back. It's amazing that they thought removing the stickers would make it less identifiable.
#33
Wow. Cool that you got pics of that. The story does sound completely unbelievable without them. Still a bad situation, but I'm glad she held her own and you get to see her again.

They removed all but the Absolute offroad stickers stripped the roof rack of axe, shovel, high lift & all the ham antennas.
All the stuff from the rack was on the back seat, so was my tool box too.

Just talked to the insurance guy & they'll have an adjuster out here by the end of the week to look at it, but with $2,500 worth of personal stuff gone or damaged & the millage of the XJ (almost 227000) it sounds like they are going to call it a total loss :(

Suspect is Michael Peterson still havent seen a mug shot on MCSO yet.
But it looks as if Ill have to go after him for the damages, but he's also responsible for that house, a few yards, a gate... so good chance Ill get hosed once again on getting any restutition.
If they do total it, then I could probably buy it back, and then gut the interor (kinda been wanting to do that already) Just never been here before so this is all new to me

Ok, so I'm not as hip and cool as I thought. What in the world does "rappin with 4-6 dect" mean?

I pictured this

Rappin with a 4 foot 6 midget detective :)g)

LOL

What I meant is he claimed to have info on a few killing & a few armed robberys so they were getting information from him on that stuff
#38
So the radios are still there, but the kerosene destroyed them?

Whats the approximate age on that Peterson guy? Just looking around online to see what I can find out

I actually liked a few of Michael Peterson's songs. He's gone a long way from country music to stealing Paul's XJ. Maybe he'll write a song about it in prison.

Haha, from his website.
Michael was born in Tucson, Arizona in 1959, but grew up in Richland, Washington, where he developed a deep appreciation for and love of music.
