Meet up with some jeep / HAM guys for an east side run...

great time fun hills to play on & water for the kids to swim in too :)g)

Ill edit the post later today & includ the pics but for now heres they are on Flickr.

Also in the market for a new / used hatch & glass.
going up a hill it "popped" out of 4L and I slid down hill a good 100'+ couldnt control the skid and ended up hitting a cactus Had that cactus not been there then we would of been the next victims of a wheeling "accident" 8| :'(
After we hit the cactus the top 3' of it broke off and fell away from us.
We all had our belts on and even though we were all scared no one lost their cool! my daughter did grab my neice and they tucked down as low as the could right before the impact.
Another couple got this picture right after I got up the hill, I ran down to make sure I didnt lose anything other than my hatch & glass

All this is still sinking in too...
No doubt in our mind God had his hand upos us!!!

WOW!

So you have one of the fiber glass ones huh.
I would like to have seen the pic of you hugging the cactus, but I'm sure that was a private moment.

Very glad it worked out like that though (praise God).
Tire carrier busted too?

Well, on the positive side:
-You didn't break your tail light again.
-It was a fun afternoon with a good group of people.
-The kids (and Randy) got to swim.
-We climbed some cool hills and got some awesome flexing shots.
-A little hot, but the weather was great and cooled off after 5pm.
-Awesome sunset. Good views of Saguaro Lake and Four Peaks.
-Everyone on the internet is looking at your jeep in that first pic and not at me taking a leak in the top of the frame.

Link to a bunch of photos.

No way to know for sure, but if the tire wasn't there, it probably would have just hit the bumper. The spare being pushed back into the hatch is what broke the window and did most of the damage.

Didnt hug the cactus...
right after we hit I asked if all were ok, all 4 kids gave me the thumbs up so I slamed it into 4L and got up to that flast spot.
Then got out to asses the dammage and I will also need to make a rather LARGE donation to our swear jar :red|

Were going to take it all apart this afternoon and see how bad it is, Im not 100% on the tire carrier as the top side hing area looks to be tweaked in & out & up :( so well see.

BUT it was a fun run great day and yes the kids got to swim too!

Glad to hear all of you are ok. Thank God! Sorry bout the damage

So heres the damage...
the hatch and tire carier are totaled...
So time to do some junk yarding and look for another used tire carier and hatch.

from the sounds of it, that could have been allot worse! Glad no one was hurt

I know you felt bad when it happened, but now you got a cool wheeling story to tell ;)

I'm glad you are ok. You can always get a new window.

The hill you slid down looks like its near cove one. Glad you are ok. I have done a rear slide and thought I was going to die. Its not fun.

We were quite a ways east. I think we had just gone past the 4th cove and then followed a very narrow ATV path up the wash about a mile before coming to that hill climb.

yeah it was a VERY narrow path (how did you paint hold up Virgil?)

I stopped in & talked to Joe today, his suggestion is that the linkage may have slipped (uni-body issue) and with the flexing & going up the hill it popped it into Netural :(

But as Bob stated... the thought of death does cross your mind! we all had our belts on and I told the kids to hang on, my daughter grabbed my neice & the layed down as flat as they could. (think that was a good call on her part)
I got a lead on a hatch going to look over some may even get to upgrade to a window WITH the de-froster and/or a rear wipper :)g)

SWEET! Good find man... any line on the tire carrier, or are you going up top like the rest of us nerds?
