I just...

...dropped the truck off at AZ Driveshaft.

Apparently last weekend didn't do much good for u-joints with 135k on them.

Much money. Such wow.

Bummer. Not something you wanted to do yourself?

Just didn't have time before I'm supposed to go up north Wednesday morning.

Working 10-12 hours the next two days, and trying to get everything ready so I can leave early Wednesday.

I more than understand that. You could use the Dodge if you want..
#6065
ha. I just might...

They just called and said they don't believe it's the driveshaft causing all the noise. They think it's internal.. soooo screwed.

Why do you always have t-case issues. I have issues with my brakes and you are the t-case killer... Hope its not that.
#6067
I'm more afraid of it being the front diff then the T-case..

When driving, I'd get around 65 mph and it would be a intermediate clunk that I could feel very well on the floorboard. I pulled over and looked at it, but couldn't see anything. I looked at what I could and just assumed the it was driveshaft. Nothing else really made sense, but they don't agree... so now I'm waiting for a call.

It's gotta be either T-case or Differential. Either way it's going to hurt.

I have a grand you can borrow. Someone scratched the rims on it though. :))

Haha. Thanks Matt :)

So, they called and told me that they think the front end is trashed. Ball joints, tie rod ends, pitman arm, idler arm, etc. now I know the pitman and idler arm need replaced... Those parts have been bought, I just haven't had time to install.

Called and bugged Andrew at letzroll about finding me some Cognito control arms with helm joints instead of the OEM style ball joints. Catch is, I need them tomorrow. :) he said he'd make some calls in the morning and let me know.

So I took tomorrow morning off work, gonna go pick up the truck take it home and start pulling stuff apart to see what really needs to be replaced by Wednesday to make my trip. Then, go to work and go back home to work on it all night. Hopefully if all goes as planned I'll get it aligned first thing Wednesday morning and head out.

...Replaced every piece of steering under the truck. at the alignment shop now, steers like a new truck. Leave early AM for the mountains.

I would have lost that bet. NICE job :)

Should be some fall color up there starting. Check out Bear Canyon (not the lake one).
#6075
Honestly I would've been betting against myself too. lol Definitely not a job I want to try and do that fast ever again. I had to use a cutoff wheel, torch, and a huge hammer to get the pitman arm off. When I got it up in the air, I had probably 2ish inches of play from left to right all in the idler arm, and tie rods. Got another hour or so at work, then go pick up the truck... back to the shop to clean up and pack.
#6076
Nice work! Good to hear you got it fixed for the trip.
#6077
Funny. I was at Desert Rat and they told me the same thing. I need new ball joints, tie rods, and other crap...

I just had a long stressful day.

Donated full color design for a 6 large+6 small lower window store front. We're talking over 6hrs excluding 3 trips. We've hashed out 10-12 proofs with 5 design scheme changes. Last 5 proofs were almost identical.

Owner shows up this morning while I am installing and says, a price is wrong, the colors are wrong, what type of material is this, why is it that size, and finally where will I hang my beer signs now.
Smart phone to the rescue, pull up emails and the proofs. I had everything covered, told ahead of time, and even had a sample material for them before we designed it all.

$1000 job that I was proud of the design and happy to display it. Had to remove the 2 window graphics I had already done (they are the full color cling stuff), lower them, and then after installing all the large graphics, cut 11" off the top.

I got compliments at least from passerbys and another shop owner calling me for theirs but #&^% was this a stressful, you've gotta be kidding me day. Proof after hand holding proof and still this?
#6079
Sorry to hear that, Mike. I can relate. Chin up. Quality always wins. Glad you had your butt covered.
#6080
Oh man... Thats never fun. Glad you had the back up for it.
