Surely you mean light colored smoke. White would be a very bad thing

If you are buring oil you will have white smoke out the tail pipe most the time. Look and see.
Other things it could be: Oil leak hitting the pipes at speed. Trans leak doing the same thing. Front or rear diff leak getting gear oil flung around as speed.
All these things smoke. All smell burnt.

Im betting that is it. I know my rear main seal is leaking, I usually lose about a quart every 3k miles or so
