Dear Any Soldier.com:

First, let me assure you that all of my soldiers are doing well and everyone is safe.

The weather here is changing, oddly enough, and the nights are becoming increasingly chilly! It been getting down to the low 50s already. It is a welcomed change, believe me. Hopefully, we can put the 110 degree heat days behind us, at least for a little while.

We have received more packages from the Any Soldier program than I could ever have imagined. Sadly, due to our location, we only receive mail on a weekly basis. It has its advantages, though....when the mail comes, it comes in bundles. Largely due to your support. The snacks are all eaten almost instantly! When soldiers come back from a long day out on the road and in the cities, a little taste of home from a Milky Way, or some Chex Mix is a relished treat!

We have received a ton of magazines from many of you and my soldiers asked me to post and plead for you all to keep those coming. There are certainly times for movies and games but my guys enjoy a little quiet time, catching up on the latest American gossip and fads. Hometown newspapers are another thing they have asked for. We like to catch up on what's going on in the world. USA Today's are great! TIME Magazine is another favorite of my guys. Oh, and anything sports related. With Football season in full-swing and college B-ball right around the corner! GO HOOSIERS!!!

My soldiers have also asked that you please include your individual contact information in the boxes as well. To those of you that we continue to Converse with, thank you for all your kind words and distractions. It is nice to hear news from home and to talk to someone about ANYTHING else but what we're doing over here. We live and breath this country... decompression time is a necessity. So, my guys asked to please post that they love it when there are pictures and updates from you as well. We compile them all in our little living area and post them for everyone to read and admire.I apologize but due to security restrictions, I am unable to post a lot of the pictures we have taken of us downloading all of the boxes we receive from you all.

In closing for this update, please accept my sincerest thanks and regards for what YOU are doing! This is our job over here and we're happy to do it. That's what makes our country so amazingly beautfiul....it is the appreciation of people like yourselves for the hard-work that our young men and women do EVERY SINGLE DAY over here. Global economy, politics, and world opinions don't matter here. When you're out and about, the only thing that matters are the others you're with and knowing that we have the full-support of our families, friends, and from you. You are truly inspirational Patriots.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers. You'll be hearing from us again soon.

Sincerely,

3rd Platoon, 56th MP Co

To begin, let me say this...anysoldier.com is a fantastic organization that helps THOUSANDS of soldiers serving and sacrificing everything for their country. So, my thanks in advance.

This request is not for me, but for my soldiers. There are many soldiers serving abroad with little or no support channels back in the states. I am a platoon leader for a Military Police company and nothing eases mission stress more on my soldiers than when their personal needs are met.

Our group is currently located in a remote location and are unable to resupply as often as we would like. Mostly, hygiene items and other sundry items in those regards would be highly appreciated. Baby wipes, powders, and vitamins as well.

Our power is based on 220 and we live in a small building. Food is not an issue, we eat regularly and the meals are sufficient. However, soldiers always love random snacks and beef jerky.

DVDs and any video game consoles/games are of course appreciated. Books are also needed, of all genres. These allow soldiers to decompress and take their mind away from the realities.

Also, small candies and school supplies are needed also so that my soldiers can give these to the children during our missions, in an attempt to win the community.

Again, my sincerest thanks for supporting my soldiers and all of the troops serving abroad. It is people like you that truly make the difference in times of sacrifice and war.

Do we just drop them off if you aren't there, or is there a certain time we need to drop them off?

The packages went out today. :cool)
One was 55lbs (18x18x18) and full of snacks, toiletries, CD's, DVD's, etc, and of course calendars and stickers.
The other box was full of school supplies for the kids there.
Thanks to those that contributed, especially Chris's parents.
We even had a stranger on JeepsUnlimited put in money for the buys.

If you didn't help out but wanted to... The shipping cost (there was no markup, trust me) was over $100. It'd be great if a few people that didn't have a chance to add to the contents wanted to toss in like $20 to cover the shipping.

Chris will set up an easy Paypal donate button tomorrow to help cover the sending.

Thanks
Their gifts should be there before Christmas. Hope we get to hear from them.

Thanks to the new Kuipers and Alan for chipping in some for the shipping.

Unfortunately I have no new information on the shipped packages. Apparently they have not yet reached their destination. Since they were sent to an APO they had to go US Mail (Priority) and their track info only shows when picked up and when delivered.
