2008 Calendar Planning
#1
Okay this is an thread for discussing the third annual Higherground4x4 calendar.

Now ahead of time I bluntly will state a few things just to get them out of the way now.

This is a Jeep calendar
It contains club members' rides (old and new)
Large High res pics only
While somewhat for our own entertainment, it is intended for resale for site and club revenue.
This means that only the best pictures will be used. We have had a callabrotive effort in our calendars with different contributers, so multiple photographers is not an issue.
This also may mean- your vehicle no matter how much you love it, may not make the calendar. My X and I will feel your pain.
We try to pick our final photos by a number of different values such as season, environment, ruggedness, and beauty.
You may suggest pics that you feel embiggin the nature of what we do, where we go, and capture Jeeps in their natural push-the-limits habitat.
While we will consider all of you suggestions/votes seriously, the end result will not be democratic.
Sorry so blunt but you can't even imagine what it takes to put this together. Searching, planning, printing, trimming, folding, mailing, etc, etc. Usually no one is let in on cal pics, I thought I'd try this this year.
For those have not seen them, they are no thrown together home brew print.
We sell them on site and through Ebay and Chris and Nate are supposed to push to get them in some stores.

Here is the link to last years cal:

So scour the trip pics you may have liked or share one not everyone has seen you and post up what you think are calendar worthy shots?

Some images if picked may be processed more later

Starting the list of prospects

*edit* Where'd she go?

As you can see it can get tough when a large Jeep tries to snaek into each photo.

I'm warning you Bob, I'll change the Jeep color in PS

So do we submit to you via e-mail, or post the low rez if we have the high rez? I don't think I have any of my YJ that will make the cut, but I really like the one of Dana's at night, etc... from previous trips. Fill us in on submission protocol?

(btw - KILLER pics from last year's calendar. Can't wait for this year's! I know what everyone is getting for Christmas...hehehe)

You stole one of mine Mike! Of course it was my muddy Jeep pic :cool) Here are my choices. I realize that most of the ones I loooove are very perty but we've gotta squeeze some actual "offroading" shots in there. Anyway, here are my perty shots!

Nice choice. Mike you actually stole two of mine:sad: At least they made it on here. I know there's gotta be a "cracks" pic.

I do like that one bob. Good action going on.
This may be a good back cover or something:

These look nice I know I will purchase one as soon as they are available.

I personally think Sc00by's Jeep photographs well. Something about the flatness of the color looks good with backgrounds.
This is a very interesting photo I've always thought. It has action, color, and is different.

The shot is a little tight for me.
Sc00b do you have any others of yours that you really like?

A few other rules we usually try to go by.
Multiple Jeeps are a plus.
Action is a plus. Some of our shots will just hold scenic value, but anyone can park a Jeep.
Color and clarity is important since it is a print.
Think about whether you'd hang it on a wall. Those of you with last year's calendar at home or work most likely find yourselves in the picture after gazing at the months photo for a while. I know I do.

Yes, there is some beautiful camera work there and the calanders are always done exceptionally well. People comment on mine all the time, I even have people come by at the start of the month to see the new pic.....I don't let them peek ahead!!

Guess I better start getting out there with you guys or I will never end up in the pages of your work!!!

I will probably do the magnet packs again,

So we will have room for more shots of everyone. :cool)
#18
Yay for magnetos! They are so fun to have on the fridge and people love to see em.

I've got to admit, I found another good Bob photo. You know how I like my shots that are different.

The Martinez Canyon from far away makes a good B/W photo in a framed series, but it doesn't do as much for me by itself.
