Hood vents vs side vents
#1
Hey guys (and girls). I really dug the hood vent install and I've been talking with skatch about different hood vents, etc... and found some I like (probably going with the 92 Pontiac Grand Prix hood vents...).

While searching, however, I found these side vents:

Is anyone running side vents on their jeep, have you seen them, any thoughts? I like the hood vents, but if side vents will clear the heat any better... well, you know us XJ guys need to drop the temp as much as possible. Any feedback would be great.

I think those look like poop IMHO

LOL It wasn't an esthetics question so much as a functionality question. I'm just trying to see if anyone has researched side vents vs hood vents for clearing heat. Your humble opinion is not only welcome, but asked for!

We were laughing about your opinion on the "stick on" H2 hood louver... I believe your quote was "don't make me come hurt you" or something along those lines... you know they actually make a full line of stick on louvers. I really did laugh my hiney off... seriously. it's just laying there in the floor... looking at me.

Just cut a bunch of "speed holes" then

Since the ones I cut were mostly for (looking up correct spelling of word for flame fuel... dang it, you can spell it both ways) (a)esthetics, I pre placed a bunch of different ones in photoshop to see what looked best and where. The hummer one didn't make it to the drawing board. ;)

:)=) you know what I mean. i realize if I really wanted the most airflow I would just take my hood off... once the best method is determined, then find something that looks great too. <sigh> God Bless Photoshop, though, eh! that really does help with placement and visualization!

My vents are out of a Chrysler LeBaren (paid $7 @ ecoligy) install was easy... then again I do sheetmetal work for a living :(

Either the LeBaron or the Grand Prix vents are what I'm going with. On a side note: WOOOO HOOOOO! Rock sliders are on! No blood. No cursing. Hardly seems like a real install! LOL Pictures, posting, and write up later this week. I'm in California for work the first part of the week.

Well... i burned myself on the toaster oven making lunch for the kids WHILE I was installing them... does that count! LOL

Here ya GO
I couldnt find the pictures of the install (sorry)
But its easy to do, I also under cut the hole by 1" thus leaving enough materal to make a 1/2" hem, doing this helps add strgenth to the metal so it doesnt flop around.

Don't worry, Paul. Nate's blinded by the bling on his LJ (aka special needs school bus).

(I've got your back, Paul. Are we going to take turns pulling him out this weekend, or just trade weekend Nate duty? That's gonna hurt when my "stock soccer mom stationwagon" pulls him out...)

I always heard LJ stood for Long Johnson....but not sure what that means and who is Johnson anyway?!?!
#20
Well... I've lived my life being A. Johnson... literally.
