KandN FIPK
#1
One of the first installs I did on my jeep was putting in the K&N FIPK kit. This kit replaced my stock air intake with a high performance filter and tube. I have heard rumors that this kit adds 10hp to your engine.

However, during the last 3 years I have noticed nothing noticable in horsepower or performance gains. This kit has 2 drawbacks that I noticed. First is the need to clean the filter every month or so. Its much easier to pick up a stock filter from autozone everytime I change my oil then it is to take off the KN, clean it, then oil it back up. Maybe Im lazy, but I don’t do this often enough.

The second problem I’ve noticed is the KN filter sits lower in the engine compartment then the stock intake. This only effects us when we do deep water crossings but on more then one occasion I have worried about sucking water into the intake where my friends with the stock intake box had several more inches before they were worried.

If you have money to burn, I suppose you could look at this. But in real world tests, I think you are better off sticking with the stock intake.

I have had them on two jeeps now... The first one I paid for. This Jeep came with it. I don't have any complaints but I have seen other kits I like better.
