Lets go

We can leave thursday, have fri - sat - sun to wheel and explore, then drive home monday

You have 8 months in advance to schedule time off and get your jeep ready

Average temps for March are a high of 64 low 40

Who wants to go?

Me I reckon

I can talk to Jen but with a new baby I am not sure if I will be able to get away for 4 days. I want to go but at this point I am not sure how things are going to play out once the baby comes.

Do I get to bring a camera or two? (To the topic discussion)
Hopefully your baby girl will be cruising along by then, and you'll be good to go.
Bob will be on board I'm sure. It sure sucks that his internet is down right now (plus he just left fro NY for the week).
Maybe, we'll be 4 Jeeps strong for the trip!

I know and I am you as well.

I do hope everything is going great with Aubrey by that time and I can go. I really wanted to go this year but there was just too much going on.

Why not plan it with the JU crew? That way you have more people that know the trail... Just a thought. I would be up for it...

yah thought about that, but kinda wanted a small group our first time out, would let us be more flexible and was hoping it wouldnt be too crowded

Just because you go with JU doesn't make it where you have to run with them. Its just nice to have people who know the trails...
#13
how busy would the trails be that time of year with JU? Ive seen trip reports from moab where it was almost empty, others it was packed. 20+ jeeps waiting in line to do the same trail

Thats easter jeep. Don't do easter jeep. Most of the trails had people on it when we went. You did run into some trail trafic... Not bad enough to hold us up for hours on end....

Here is my question...
Do you know how to change a d35 shaft? (J, Dana, Nate)
Do you have parts? (all of us)
Do you have enough trail tools to fix stuff that could go wrong? (all of us)
Do you have the know how? (all of us)

Im not trying to be a jerk I just need to make sure you guys go into this with eyes wide open. I didn't and it ended my trip 3 days early.

My dad is a TV repair man he has the ultimate set of tools (fast times for all you young peps). Bob what kind of parts would you need?

Yep I agree completely. Thats one of the reasons I set a date so far in advance, it should give us enough time to grab some more spare parts and tools

My goal by that time is to have a rear locker with upgraded alloy shafts front and rear along with the full cage and winch

I think if we start prepping now we should be okay
#17
ok for you maybe but for not so ok for me. Two kids in prvte schl x-mas b-days and a wedding I will do my best but I may have to go with what I have.
#18
I am with Nate on this one. I have a kid on the way, Jen possibly going back to school which mean she wont be working.

I dont have the money to buy parts for the stuff I need to fix let alone extra parts to go on a run out of town.

I will see what happens in the comming months but I really dont think I am going to have the money to do all of this.
#19
Its up to you if you go or not. Like I said, its 8 months in advance. Im going for sure.

Weve ran 4.5+ trails here with no spare parts and little tools, yet never had a problem. Bob was just reminding us that since we are hundreds of miles from home we should be prepared to fix our own junk since a tow out isnt really possible

Parts... You need extra ujoints and anything that you have had a prob with in the past.
I have a few extra trail parts (get you off the trail and thats it)...

The rigs you all have now can do a bunch of the fun trails. You don't need a locker but it helps.
