Bought me a new tow rig!!!
#1
I wanted someting I could buy for CASH, so I can sell my Commander and get rid of the payments. WE have looked at a group of 1 Tons in the last while and have seen a lot of JUNK and a few good ones way over priced. WE went to Tucson today to look at a 97 F350 4x4 crew SRW with 79K miles, turned out to be a beautiful truck and was $9500 before dealing, we took it out for a test and had tranny and transfer case trouble so we backed off, he wanted to show us a 95 Diesel too and in looking it had over 200K and was not something I wanted to travel with but right next to it was a 97 Chev 3500 with 97K on a 454 auto and it is loaded and already set up to tow.....long story a little longer, we bought it cheaper than the others and we pick it up tomorrow......It had just came in so it has not had emmissions testing or anything, not even cleaned up yet.

Not yet, but it will tow the Jeep on a flatbed better than the Commander and the Wife is looking at 5th wheels now!

Why do you need to trailer your Jeep? :~

Tow it on long distance runs so if we break it we can still get home, also save wear on the jeep parts and tires and all that other crap that is expensive!!!

nice, curious to what you get. My parents are looking at buying another truck and 5th wheel to use when they go camping. Theyre past the point of wanting to sleep on the ground are looking for something a little more comfy :)g)

How far do you really have to tow it to get to the next RTI ramp? :)=)

We wanted something cheap to learn on but with all the equipment. We also needed a generator because we are not te RV park/Campground type, we will be going out and camping in the desert to wheel.

This ain't pretty but it is in really good shape overall and everything works great, has a 4K generator that will run everything including the AC and has a rear tow hitch to tow the quad trailer. Bought it from an awesome Christian man in Queen Creek for $3500. It is a 1986 Alfa Sun 30'. We wnted a toy hauler but did not want to spend $15K, we wanted to be under that for the truck and trailer so we could buy it with the equity we have in our Commander and not have to take out a loan. Truck and trailer together we have $11750 invested, so, so far we are holding to our plan of big RVing on the cheaper side. Now to see how it all holds up.

One note, buying an older 5th wheel is a PITA, you have to look at a lot of junk that people want to get rid of and the trailers are a lot heavier, this one weighs over 7K. Also, never buy with out testing all the toys, some of them can get rather expensive to replace.
