Flagstaff Camping in the X - 3/25/07
#1
Dana, Jonathan, and I headed up to Flagstaff in the X yesterday.
I had a great time. Had to find our own roads since they still haven't opened up the main trails (GPS paid off this trip). Camping was great, not too cold. And there was till snow on the ground in some places. The Lookout tower was a bonus. You could see for forever.
Saw critters and big mess Elk too.

Just a few of my top listers:

We had lots of fun in Flag... believe it or not never been camping up there so it was a nice change... besides lots of the roads being closed  Here are some of my favorite pics:

He brought the tent, and although I know it's never supposed to leave the camp, I did sleep with him and I did enjoy it.

I had just planned on sleeping in the X, but a threesome in there gets pretty hairy and footprints are quite hard to get off the headliner.

I hadn't slept in a tent in I don't know how long. Made me all paranoid that I couldn't see the animals sneaking up on us.

And don't worry J, it's definitely worth going again and again.

Gotta wait for Chris and Jared to get new tires. That'll have to happen anyway before April 22nd.

I start coaching my sons baseball team this Sat for the next 10 weeks so it would have to be a Sat-Sun trip. If I could put that request in.

Here's the obligatory 360 panoramic shot from the tower:

Just used an old program, didn't feel like doing too much work.

The drive up and back was fun with the CB on. Twice traffic on the way back was at a stand still and imediately the air ways were packed with voices. Not only did we learn new words, but it was helpful to know exactly what was going on up ahead including what lane was better to be in and/or if one was closed.

Also, we made contact with a trucker on the way up. Dana made a friend with him and he kept trying to figure out what truck we were in. He kept naming off trucking companies trying to find out where we were. Finally we told him to look for the tire on top and he saw us. Then he broke formation with his trucking partner and barelled on down to catch up with us. When he was pushing to get to us, Jonathan said, "Isn't there a movie about this?"
He was nice though. Chatted a little and then we were on our way.
He was hauling lettuce to PA.

Funniest part was when Dana said she had an antenna and the trucker said he had changed his mind about hooking up with her : )

Would have been nice to have a couple vehicles to chat on the way up but it sounds like you guy had plently of people to talk to.
