maxxis tires
#1
Every forum Ive ever seen has at least 1 tire thread, so I thought Id start my own :?

Anyone know a shop locally that has the new maxxis trepador radials in stock? Im looking for the 35x12.5 on a 15" rim

I saw them on quadratec but they only sell 30 and 31" tires. Way too small

Rick Beer from discount said that they can get them with no problem but don't have them in stock.
You may try toys by troy... I hate saying that.

lol, toys by troy. Guy at work had an arb installed from them, they hooked it up wrong and his compressor leaked everywhere. For some reason the same guy decided to use them again and have them do some metal fab on his bumper. His new fancy welds ended up breaking

I still like my ProComps!!!

hah yeah, Ive done alot of reading on the different tires. Everyone says MTR's are the best of both worlds for a daily driver but I wanted to try out something new

I talked to RickBeer from VJC and hes checking if they can get the maxxis trepadors for me. Right now he thinks the only maxxis tires they can get are the creepy crawlers

Nice tire but soft...

yah the creepy crawlers are bias from what I understand. I dont think they would hold up as good as a radial tire on the street

Heres another option, I know AZLugz loves his procomps so I was looking at these

They are the pro comps xtreme mud terrain, they look like they have the same 3ply sidewall as the MTR's and tread design looks pretty agressive

Heres the MTR to compare

The Maxxis Trepador

Cooper STT

Mickey Thompson Baja Claw Radial MTX

What does everyone think?

I know the regular procompos only have 2ply but it is a special compound and they are rated stronger than any other 2 ply and as strong or stronger than the MTR. Desert Fab here in Mesa claims the best off-road tires to be X-Terrains and Creepy crawlers (in that order) but the creepy's are soft and wear out quick. It goes back and forth but a friend has MTR's on his Taco and runs it HARD, he says his Pro-Comp mud terrains were better overall and cheaper but the difference was not extreme. The MTR's biggest problem is when they are wet, they are slippery because they are a harder compound but, that will probably make them wear longer too.

The new Extreme M/T's are supposed to be really good but are still so new that there is not much personal test time on them. Bruzr, a christian brother in Lake Havasu just bought a full set and will have them in Panamint this weekend, I can let you know how he fares with them. He got the 33x12.50x15 I believe.

Yeah I was looking at the xterrains but they arent available with a 15" rim unless I get 37's

Thats the X-terrain extreme, the regular X-T's come in 15", I am running 33x12.50x15

I know, its a poser shot when the tires were new and it only had a spacer lift!!!!

Oooo, maybe you can get 17's likes how I's rollin
#13
by the way how is that Mileage with the cost of gas at $3.00 plus your 1st born?
#14
I wan't 17's... 37's on 15's is to much sidewall...
#15
I don't even know any more. Figured there's no point in the knowing. Same reason, I don't read any of the other numbers at the gas pump.
I know I got 17+ when it wasn't modified.

I used to get 320 miles out of a tank from my honda now I'm lucky to get 200-220.

kinda thinking about getting the baja claws. Ive heard that procomp, cooper and mickey thompson are all the same manufacturer. The baja claws have a 3 ply sidewall and look pretty agressive
