The last year has been a little tough on me. Had a baker cyst removed from my knee joint that later got infected and the knee still isn't the same a year later. Im not sure it ever will be good again. Got laid off, hired, laid off, hired and then hired to a new job. With my insurance never really kicking in for about 6 months I was off my meds for my psoriasis and it was as bad as it was 5 years ago when I started treatment.
I felt like crap and would just eat and sleep. I put on about 50lbs over the last year and everything was feeling it. My knee hurt from the infection but it also hated life with all the weight I put on.
A few months ago I was talking with one of the guys at the gym and decided to compete in my first Powerlifing comp in over a year. I started training and my body fought me every step of the way. When I got to the comp and did the weigh in I was about the same weight as I was at nationals. The problem was that most my muscle had moved to my belly and turned to fat. I had gotten so fat that even my fat guy belt didn't fit.
Something had to change.
I hired a nutritionist that was also my strength coach and he understood what my goals were and where I needed to be. We talked about life and what the diet would look like. He promised to be brutal with his feedback and call me out if I started to slip.
I started a week ago on Saturday. As of one week (with Thanksgiving mixed in) I am down 8lbs.
Goal is to lose 70-80 lbs and get back to a good competition weight.
