night run
#21
Stop mixing up trails. Syc Creek/Squeeze Rock was where we saw the trailer guy. He came in on the opposite side.

FR98 just has one hard section and then it's like the FR42 till it hits the water. Then you take the squirrely electric line road past the dam then across the river

ah

where does syc creek start at again? is it off the 87?

Im thinking it might be better if we did something thats not an hours drive away
#23
Um... so were you thinking about crawling around at the mall? Cuz even Bartlett and Saguaro are an hour from your house or mine.
#24
Table Mesa!!!!
#25
never been out there

Bob do you want to lead a run? Wed need a trail guide especially at night
#26
There are some really cool places over here for night runs, but it is a long way for you guys. We like Woodpecker Mine Loop at night but last time took us about 5.5 hours with 4 rigs
#27
So I'm liking the idea of FR98..
Bob no wanna lead Table Mesa, and we aren't familliar with the area.

Unless you are all wanting a harder run at night time. The good thing about 98 is that there is one good hard section and then the trail opens up and become like the 42. Plus at the end of the trail is the lake, kinda like a prize. Probably more likely to see animals out there I'd imagine.

The getting back would be the question. We'd either turn around after hitting the lake or go out the way J and Chris did last time. That takes you along the squirrely electric line road, past the dam and then you ford the river below. Not a big deal in the daylight, but might add to much extra time?

Just throwing down what I know. Discuss

Here's the old old report.
http://www.higherground4x4.com/FR%2098.htm

Like I said the first part is short
Then the FR42ish part looks to be 7 miles to the lake (hard part to the corral if you were there last time = 3.2 miles)

I am kinda with Chris on this, if we ar going to do a night run I would want to do something close. I know there is not to much around us and we have to drive about an hour in either direction just to hit a trail head, but eith it getting darker later I just cant see myself wheeling untill 2am after a day of work on Friday.

We might want to try and plan something a couple weeks down the road for a Saturday night?

Anyone have any other ideas?
#29
I dont plan on being out until 2 in the morning. I was hoping to be home by 12
#30
When do trips ever go as we planned.
#31
why not just go up around Lake Pleasant. Just a thouhgt.
#32
No established trails out there. There's Lost Word and some Wickenburg stuff. Still, an hour away.

How long have you guys lived in Phoenix again? It takes an hour to see anything not fried to the pavement, much less willing to craw from cactus to shady cactus.

You guys figure it out. I'll be there.
Garsh it's not going to be dark on this night run is it?
#33
what is "lost world"?
#34
It all depends what the trail to offer. Rock challenges or easy going animal hunting stuff. FR42 would be so perfect for a night run, but... yep, still closed.

Hassayampa River is a very easy run, but you might run into animals. It's next to Wickenburg. (same distance as L Pleasant)

Lost world is pretty hidden, but is also lotsa rocks
#35
Wickenburg sounds good. Its somewhere new that we haven't been yet. Plus with it being a night run I dont want to spend hours getting unstuck :)

When can everyone meet? Im off all day Friday so anytime works for me
#36
I am not going to be able to make it Friday, my work is taking the office golfing and we dont tee off till 4:30 and the Suns game is on affter that.
#37
I'm coaching Skylers baseball game on Sat what time are you guys going and what time do you think you might be back?

Is this a Jeep only or can I bring some one who just got a H3 and wants to take it out.
#38
Im hoping to be back around midnight

Hmm an h3? Maybe but they will have to ride in the back so they dont mess up the pics :)
#39
So what's the word? All I've heard is that Chris is going. Nate may, and so might his friend.
#40
you should be able to drive the X on that trail, seems like it would be easy enough
