Alt on the Cherokee
#1
The Alt died on the Cherokee again. I was going to see if there was something better than the cheap Autozone part that is on it. With the add on of the winch and lights is there something more I should be looking for? MeanGreen is out. Im not spending $300-400 on an alt.

LS Swap

But for real.. I know for the Chevys they make a high output alternator... not sure if they make anything like that for the heep or not. I'd probably head down to Napa or Car Quest and see what options they have for you. I steer clear of autozone junk at all costs.

They are awesome and I would have one if I had more stuff in my Jeep or was running a 2nd battery. I just cant bring myself to spend that much $ on it.

yeah its not a cheap part -- i thought I read that the ones from dodge durangos were a good swap too

Dunno on the Jeep. I use the Nissan Quest alternator to replace my Xterra one. 125amps versus 80.

You can use 160a durango alternator but you need to grind the bracket so that it will fit.
