Project 1775
#1
At about 5 a.m., 700 British troops, on a mission to capture Patriot leaders and seize a Patriot arsenal, march into Lexington to find 77 armed minutemen under Captain John Parker waiting for them on the town’s common green. British Major John Pitcairn ordered the outnumbered Patriots to disperse, and after a moment’s hesitation the Americans began to drift off the green. Suddenly, the “shot heard around the world” was fired from an undetermined gun, and a cloud of musket smoke soon covered the green. When the brief Battle of Lexington ended, eight Americans lay dead or dying and 10 others were wounded. Only one British soldier was injured, but the American Revolution had begun.

Seeing as how I bought my new TJ on 4th of July weekend, it only seemed fitting to give it the name 1775, the year the American revolutionary war began

Awesome. I'm looking forward to this!
#3
Love it!
#4
I like

Got the swaybar back on, highlift removed, radiator flushed and side rear windows replaced

also spent some time just looking around underneath - not a lot of scratches or dents, doesnt look like it was abused much at all

when I swap axles, it might take a bit more work to build up a new truss?

Guess i have a distributor and spark plugs on this one. The old 2001 TJ had a coil rail

oh and I found this one has a siren and pa system heh. Saw some random buttons on the dash and discovered it
#7
That's awesome. I don't remember my 97 having a distributor. Who knows

Mine did... and it came loose at the Cortez race with Ivan and cost me 20 minutes trying to figure out why it wasn't getting fire! LOL.

Took the jeep over to michaels last night, got up to 65ish on the freeway (speedo tooth gear needs to be replaced, think its still set for stock tires)

No wobble or issues going at speed. Only thing I noticed was the temp gauge got a bit over 210 with the AC on. It never got towards the red, but it was higher then i was used to. Might have climbed more if I was going up north and on the freeway for a couple of hours.

So, need to chase that down, probably end up swapping radiators and adding a trans cooler. Im also guessing that the airflow isnt as much with the winch on the front bumper so that might have an affect on it

Michael also noticed that the litedot led's on the back had several burned out bulbs. Kinda silly, LED's are supposed to last nearly 100,000 hours of being on. But talking with Bob, I guess litedot just makes a terrible product and this is a known issue with them. Gonna swap in some cheaper ones I found on amazon

Winch was never a problem for temp on any of my jeeps. I would bet it is just an older rad.

Yah, I ordered an OEM Spectra replacement one from RockAuto part CU2101 - was only $81 vs $97 from summit. Thought about the all aluminum, but I was looking at $330+ and would rather spend that on axles. If this one goes out in a year, Ill go the higher end route
#13
got the new radiator in, fairly straight forward swap. 10 and 11mm sockets is all you need
#14
TJ still wants to run hot on the freeway, starts warming up almost immediately - within a half mile of being on it.

Ordered a new thermostat, will see if that helps. If not Ill probably just take it to Greg, gotta go to him anyway for the rear main seal leak. Once he has it Ill have him do a transmission drain/fill/inspection on it too and the brakes
#15
got a 180 tstat - it still got a touch over 210 on the freeway with AC on - Im guessing 215 or so - once I stopped I could hear water boiling in the overflow jug. I dunno why its happening, AC off on the freeway and it has no issues. Guess next thing to swap is the water pump

but first its going to greg for the leaks
#16
thought Id update

new waterpump, thermostat, radiator cap, hoses - still likes to run a bit warm on freeway

also had it at AO - put in a front lockright because of this issue --- http://www.higherground4x4.com/forums/showthread.php?5804-Woops-front-axle-loud-noise

Ordered new rims since I didnt like the spacers and discount broke one of the lugs on em

Got the Mickey Thompson sidebiter ones

#18
I like em.

hopefully they're heavier to keep that front end on the ground.
#19
lol yep

Joe did mention that I need to set a limiting strap on the rear, the primary reason that drive shaft broke was the back flexed too much on that bounce
#20
ordered replacement back window for the soft top

also picked up new JKS discos and an adapter for the 4wd linkage. Lost 4low on Moab most likely, it shifts into it but doesnt stay
