After a few people from NM, CA, and AZ couldn't make it, Brian and I headed out to explore part of AZ I had never seen.
El Camino Del Diablo- The Devil's Highway is a dirt road that was a trail used to get from Mexico to CA for 100's of years. We covered 150 miles of it from Thursday afternoon till Friday night.
First stop was in Ajo to get the needed permits to cross the range and wilderness section. They don't cost anything to get but anyone 18+ needs to watch a vid telling you not to do stupid things that could kill you.
Just outside of Ajo is the start of the trail. About 3:30 we started the trail and at 3:35 we passed out first illegal under a tree. No, we didn't stop. Yes, I tossed some water out the window. There were BP agents all over the place.
We stopped off at a few tanks and some places along the way... There is some ugly dirt and some beautiful color all in the same area.
Most of the trail is dirt with some nasty washboard mixed in. Most any 4x4 could make it.
Pics will be on there way soon.
