One of my friends from NM, Brian, was out at KOH and I was talking to him about some dirt road trips he had done. He mentioned that he would be in AZ for a few trips and would keep me posted.
I got the call about a trip to The Devil's Highway. I have heard about this from a few Jeep people at my gym. It sounded a little like the Mojave Road and could be a fun weekend.
After doing some reading and calling, I found out that you need a free permit to cross the Goldwater range as well as the Cabeza Prieta Refuge. The only issue is that you have to get it in person and watch a vid before the permit will be issued. The office hours are till 3:30 M-F... Govt have better hours than a banker. SMH...
As of now the plan is to leave work at 10 on Thursday. Hit the Road by 11am so I can get to Ajo and get the permit before they close for the day.
I will be camping near the start of the trail Thursday and then start the trail on Friday. Camping along the way Friday and Sat. Drive home Sunday.
I will be rolling in the Dodge. Im not at a point I 100% trust the Jeep. I don't want to be that guy miles from nothing.
Dates: March 17-20th
Leaving Chandler at 11am on 17th and heading to Ajo.
Drive home from Yuma on the 20th
Great trip report
