ramsey baby step 4 - roth ira and 401k
#1
Just planning ahead a bit -

whats your thoughts on the 401k vs roth ira? should I do both? Work matches my 401k up to 3% currently but that will change in a couple of years with silly irs guidelines and they wont match at all

so with that - should I just do roth ira or do both until work no longer matches?

Both (ESPECIALLY when they are matching).

Roth IRA if it meets your needs from a tax planning perspective. Traditional IRA otherwise. It all depends on your distribution plan once you retire.

Yeah i need to talk with one of their recommended advisor people. I met with an "advisor" a few years ago and all they did was get me to "invest" in whole life insurance. Such a scam

If your company doesn't offer a retirement plan or match your contributions, then go straight to the Roth.
