Were putting in a lawn in the backyard, I know J used to have some special hybrid bermuda stuff (bobsod?) Does anyone know anything about law care and rolling out turf? Id like something thats green in the spring summer, doesnt bother me if it goes dormant in the winter. Any suggestions?

You could try Hydroseeding. That is the spray in grass, they spray a thick layer of theis green mulched up crap in the yard and it grows grass. A guy here at Boeing used them and he said it worked real good and was a lot cheaper than sod. The flyer he gave me says it is $100 for up to 500sq/ft, $120 for 500-1000 sq/ft and then $0.12 per sq/ft for 1000-4000. That can give you a rough idea on the cost.

THen they have special grass mixtures that cost a little extra.

I have never done it, but he said it gave him a nice yard in a reasonable short time with a lot less work and cost, now he complains that he has to mow it!!!

This is the site on the Flyer I have:
http://www.whysod.com/

That seems to tell most everything. I have done the sod route before and I will never do it again, what a ..........

Hope it helps

My mother lives in Sun City. I'm sure I could get you some of that special green paint they just spray over the rocks. You wouldn't believe it but if you look at it from outer space, it actually resembles grass.

I had the Bobsod that I got from western sod. I loved it, it looked great in the summer time and it really dosnt need a lot of care. Water it, mow it and in the winter time you can just seed over it to keep it green. When it starts to heat up again the rye burns out and the bermuda come back. It really made my yard look good and I had it wall to wall.

Then my dogs ate the sprinkler system and it all died, but it took it a while to die without regular watering.

I have installed sod in several yards so I know preping the yard, rolling it our and maintance for the firt month to make sure it roots.
