I've ran e-lockers, air lockers, and mechanical lockers. I preferred the air lockers (frankly) for convenience when crawling, I didn't trust the e-lockers for racing, and I'm back in mechanical lockers now for the type of driving I do (stupid, dump, don't touch anything racing).
Here's my take (take it or leave it).
For primarily recreational driving, e-lockers are good. I would choose this, personally, for your current vehicle if it was mine.
If you plan on hard core rock crawling (think Die Hard), I would go with air lockers. A touch more durability and although there are moving parts (air lines, etc...) that could go wrong, for the most part, it's the simplest to maintain on the trail if you have issues (who wants to diagnose an electrical issue on a waterfall???) and many people have the spare parts and/or air tank / compressor with a group.
For purely budget (or in my case, super simplicity because I'm kinda dumb and I don't want to work on ANYTHING while in a race), you can't go wrong with mechanical lockers, but they suck on the highway (although many of us have run them on the highway, e-lockers make so much more sense.).
Again, take it or leave it, but Jason is a quality guy and AO was my shop before racing. I still support them 100%. e-lockers sound like the way to go.
