Bug out bag

My bag has been used up and taken apart for trips. Its missing a bunch of stuff and is more a back pack with crap in it now. Time to build a new one. I want to see how light I can keep it. I need to find a truck gun to put down in it and forget about it.

For those of you with a bag, how often do you change out the food? 3-6 months?
