1999 gmc 1500
#1
Its a 1999 GMC 1500 4.8 V8 2wd with 200K miles.

What it need:
A/C fixed
driver seat fixed- back is broken, seat belt doesn't work
Front end- needs some love. Its eating the outside of the tires
Tire- see above
Drive shaft ujoint
Brakes- It still has the original brakes. Yeah 200K on them. They dont make any noise but the ABS and Brake idiot light is on
Diff and trans service- Never serviced in 200k
Window Tint- Its a must in AZ

Truck didn't cost me anything so I am willing to put in some money to fix it up and make it a good daily driver.

I can "tint" the windows for you.

Seems like a more manageable homedone list if done in chunks than Dodge

???
I'm not sure what the Dodge needs at this point. It may just be a bad miss causing the issues or it may need a trans.... Either way the Dodge needs fixed too. It will be fixed by the Oct trip. I'm not going to be without a 4x4 of some sort.

Sorry. One hand on the keyboard, the other on a kitty...

I just meant the GMC list could be fixed in steps while it could still be driven. You can't pull an engine/tranny and still drive too easily.

The GMC is back from the shop. Lots of work and lots of $. Still needs a few things but nothing I cant handle.
Got the AC replaced. Like the full AC replaced... This is where most of my $ went.
Front end is rebuilt but needs an alignment.
Needs shocks
Needs a seat
Needs 2 tires

Tans and diff were serviced and it seems to shift better.

I cant say enough about Greg's Value Auto Repair. He did great work and went above and beyond on this truck. I just need to get him to move to the east side. :)

Glad to hear man! Hopefully that truck treats you well for a long time.

Good update

The truck is still rolling down the road and costing me lots less in gas than the Dodge. Still some issues to fix but its nice to have AC again. The knock sensor went out so I am saving money to have that fixed.

Its odd having something that you dont want to lift/lower or modify. Yeah there are some basic things but not like the Dodge, Jeep, F100...

It is weird, right? I kinda just drive my truck and it does what it's supposed to do. :-)

I still say you need a better bumper.

although a 2 inch drop in the rear to level it out would be easy and look nice, especially when you add the 20s. :))

Took the GMC into the shop for some work. On the way to KOH the exhaust on the driver side kept getting louder. Turns out I snapped two bolts off the exhaust manifold. Problem was that they broke off in the block.
The shop called and said the only way he can get to the back bolt is to pull the head. That just adds to much in labor to fix something on a 210K eng.
The CEL went out for a few days so I got it past emissions and have tags on it for a while. The plan it to now just drive it till I can get something else.

Still cheaper than a car payment. :))

How critical is that back bolt? I had a jeep with the far back bolt broke and it sealed fine without it. Of course it was an aftermarket exhaust so it was likely more rigid.
#16
Im not worried about it. Not fixing it anymore. Just going to drive it till it dies or I get something else and sell it
#17
That works too

I had the lower arms replaced. Had the rotors turned.
Truck is going to need 2 tires and the upper arms soon.
Going to get the front window replaced. It comes with a free tint job. The truck will get a good cleaning and then when it cools off I will look at selling it. Im at a point of good money after bad and hit my max of what I want to spend.

I'll make you a heck of a deal on a nice suburban, A/C works great, just passed emissions and has tow package on it :)

I still say you need to put your delicate lips to a delicate part of my anatomy and gently kiss it...

... that being said, since we ARE keeping the truck, once I get the Grand Waggy squared aware, truck upgrades are next.
