Hornady has released their Rapid Safe, which utilizes RFID technology. Along with RFID, it also has the more traditional modes of operation like a keypad and a key.

The safe comes with 3 types of RFID devices.
1. The bracelet (includes 3 sizes)
2. Key fob for your keychain.
3. RFID Card for your wallet.
Only 2 RFID devices can be programmed. However, the other two traditional methods (key and keypad) will work side by side with the RFID devices.
It also comes with a cable lock so you can tether it to a stationary object. The safe is made from 16 gauge steel and the locking hook is 1/4"steel. It weighs a whopping 15.65 Lbs. You can feel the quality! It's powered by a 110v plug and comes with a battery backup.

What I like most about this safe is that it's small and FAST. The pistol is attached to the lid and, when opened, is presented without obstruction. My current pistol safe has my gun sitting in the bottom of the little safe and I can't access it as quickly as I can with this Rapid Safe. For $270 you get a LOT of technology and security. Most of all, you get SPEED. When your life is on the line, every millisecond counts!
I'm usually won't buy a replacement until my original one breaks. However, I'll make an exception on this safe. This is going on my Christmas list. :)
