Jogi B and I went out again in search of some more cool abandography. I brought all the colored lights I made to setup in the abandoned planes if we made it in.
This is a very involved process. Setting up, re-setting up, checking the test shots, long patient exposures, the right amount of moon and the addition of light painting, and many different camera settings. I had to do some monkey aerobatics to get into wheel wells far off the ground while unfearing birds flew at me protecting their nests, around internal fuel tanks sometimes a few times to make sure the lights were pointed correctly and not too bright. I used duct tape sometimes to secure lights behind propellers, trash to prop them up in the right direction, and strings to drop them into small places to make sure I could retrieve once done. In some of these shots there are 13 different lights.
All of this was done with the knowledge that security could come upon us at any moment. It took us forever and it was fun the whole time.

Breathtaking. I love the cockpit shot... the stories it could tell. Simply stunning Mike. Fantastic results (and evidently good stories too!). Wow.

I think I know that place. If it's the same place, My oldest Daughter and I have been chased out of there a couple of times. Said birds scared the poo out of us too. Very cool place close to our old house. We would race up and down the old huge runway on our mountain bikes. Fantastic pictures!!!
