speed drills

Got a chance to do some gun work with a PHX SWAT guy and a guy from MCSO. The guy from SWAT (Nick) has a small gun shop in Tempe. He set up a range day at Ben Avery on the DPS range. There were 7 people total and all sorts of toys to try out. My old 30-30 was a hit. Just something fun about that old gun.

After we shot the AR's and my AK we headed down the range to do some speed drills on steel plates. All I can say is I SUCK...

If I am taking my time and dont have anything beeping at me I am an ok shot. As soon as that time recorder beeped I was all over the place. I was good to see that and I know what I need to work on. Fastest on target from a low ready was .83 sec most the guys were .5 to .8 again and again.

Still LOVE my SR9C! Also got to help a girl get over her fear of guns. She started on my 9 and then moved up to a .40 and .45
She did great and was hitting steel in no time.

That's awesome Bob. I wish I could have joined you that day. I was also helping a teen girl with her fear of handguns, too. Although she loved my 1911 and loves the 45ACP cartridge, the SR9C was her favorite, too!

Just a quick note on speed drill. They are great practice as you advance in your training, but should not be the focus on your training... yet. Remember these three words, "Speed Follows Accuracy".

If you are up for it, schedule a Sunday with me and I can help you get faster pretty quickly. I have ancient Chinese secret training routines! :)

there are so many things wrong here... Bob - I think he called you a teenage girl... also, I fell for the "ancient Chinese secret training routine" from Jimmy once - and ended up wearing nothing but a garden hose, covered in motor oil. Just be careful is all I'm saying. :-)

No need to be scared, unless you hear banjo music.
