My day was all planned out. I was gonna wake up early get the cooler packed along with extra clothes, put the XJ on the street and load it up. Then Bubba and I were going to meet some VJC members and run Crown King. Yes, it was going to be muddy but we would have had a good time.

The XJ wouldn't start so I thought no big deal I will jump it with my battery charger and be good to go. Well, as fate would have it, I have an alarm on the XJ that I didn't realize was there. So, at 7 am this piercing car alarm goes off. I pull the negative cable on the battery and slam the hood shut. I knew that my offroading hopes were dashed. Now to break it to Bubba. :( So, I throw a few tools, use my special car words to tell the Jeep off and go inside.

My wife decides to head to the gym. I start looking for ways to get Bubba out of the house so she can get a nap in before her night shift. I remember that Alan had mention that he would be Artec Industries and that Ian from Xtreme 4x4 would be there also. I looked up the address and saw it was a 2.5 hour drive and said to myself, "Self you should go." I got Bubba excited about it too.

At this time my two dogs start to go nuts, so open the front door and on my little patch of grass is a very large Rottweiler. Being the smart fella I am, I go outside to shoo him away. I look down the street and see another guy who is following the Rotty and its partner, another large Rotty. I wasn't concerned.

All of a sudden, 4 squad cars pull up, this is when I realized that I had to pee and that the other guy had a pistol in his hand. I got told lay flat, which I did in much haste. After initial normal amount of confusion, the other guy was handcuffed and hauled down the street. I got to keep my hansd free but had to stand in the drizzle with a t-shirt on and answer questions.

The neighbors across the street now really think I am redneck who gets arrested (their words). Kinda makes me proud.

Oh yeah, apparently the other guy with gun had shot one of the Rotty's when it went after his wife. I was just an innocent bystander. My pistol was in the house in the bag that was supposed to go in the Jeep.

So, Bubba and I went to the Artec Industries Grand Opening. We had a great time talking with Alan, Andrew, Tim and, of course, the main attraction, Ian from Xtreme.






Bubby liked this one the best 'cuz it had so many trophies.

Wow the dog and cop part is crazy. Glad it all worked out. Something didn't want you to leave on time. A simple morning alarm not going off seems like it would have been easier.

So the cops thought you shot the dog? Oh man. Glad it all worked out.

God had other ideas for me that day for sure.

Brother - when you said you got to talk to the cops that morning, I thought you and gotten pulled over! What a day!!!

It was great to see you and Braden down at ARTEC. I know it was a long drive, but it was so good to you and Bubba seemed to have a blast!

Oh, it was up close and personal. Especially when on the ground staring at two Rotty's 20 feet away. I was more concerned about the dogs than the cops. Bubba said that he had a great daddy and Braedon day.
