#1
Just got home from the PHX gun buy back. Lots of fun stuff. Lots of junk also...
Picked up 3 spent $300. Worked like crazy to save a SW 357... Offered $200 and the guy wouldnt do it because he gave a lady his word he would get rid of it.

what was the overall condition of the guns you saw? I always figured those buybacks would be full of junk nonfiring stuff?

Most of the guns were good condition. There were a few that were on there last leg. One old guy had a 20ga that was so cut down it wasnt funny. He had run over it with the tractor...:))

There were also lots of pocket guns and no name singe shots that were not worth $100

Glad to hear someone benefited from the buyback. All the ones that they collect will be destroyed... sad.

Final weekend of Phoenix gun buyback in question

PHOENIX -- The third "Guns for Groceries" event in Phoenix scheduled for this Saturday is in limbo.

Almost 1,000 guns were turned in during the first two Saturdays of the event and about $100,000 worth of gift cards provided by an anonymous donor were handed out out.

But that was the entire supply.

Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos said the future of this weekend's buyback won't be determined until Wednesday or Thursday.

"We will need some time to prepare for this event," he said.

Martos said they ran out of grocery cards very early last Saturday. They had to turn a few people away while others turned in guns without getting the gift card.

"About 70 people submitted their guns this past week without getting anything in return," he said.

Should the third event does take place Saturday, it would likely be at the Betania Presbyterian Church at 39th Avenue and Thomas Road.

Martos said if the city carries through with Saturday's event, it will likely be the last as Gov. Jan Brewer signed legislation into law that prevents cities from destroying weapons obtained during buy-backs.

That law takes effect 90 days after the legislative session ends.
