Dirt Riot Cedar City ~ May 12th
#1
This will be the second round of both the Dirt Riot Southwest Series and the W.E. Rock Western Rock Crawling event. It will also be the Second time that they are a double up event on the SAME WEEKEND. The event in Arizona was great...and this one should be just as exciting.

Next up is the Southwest Series race #2 in Cedar City. Right now it looks like a Friday departure with the LetzRoll crew and Miller. We have to be in Cedar City by 5 PM Mountain, so missing work on Friday. The race is on Sunday (with the W.E.Rock stuff on Saturday.) I'm not sure if it will be a Sunday night late return or a Monday morning return. If I drive up there alone, I will return on Monday with the LetzRoll crew. If anyone wants to come with me, I can, and would prefer, come back Sunday night, late.

So far, this race is just me from the HigherGround crew. (Of course I completely understand how hard it is to miss a Friday and possibly a Monday of work), but if you want to come, let me know as I always enjoy road tripping with our band of merry gentlemen. You can ride up and back with me and I can always use the hands in the pit. Camping will be available, but we're all piling into an inexpensive hotel room (like the Texas race). Cedar city is about 7 hours from here, 8 with the trailer (up through Kingman, Vegas, then Northeast again into UT), plus the time zone change thing. Good news, however, is that we get that hour back on the return trip. :-)

Pre-running will be Saturday night from 5 - 7 PM after the Rock Crawling competition. Rich said part of the course is on BLM land they wouldn't allow any Friday running.

I know, brother. It's a tough one with the race being on Sunday, puts Friday AND Monday in play. :-/

Conceivably, we could do a Saturday trip up there, see if Rich will tech it Saturday after the W.E.Rock event, race Sunday, come home Sunday night. I could make that happen if anyone is up for a SUPER HARDCORE weekend road trip. Might be fun. :-)

Open proposal: If there are 3 or 4 people who want to go, we can leave early Saturday morning, catch the end of the W.E.Rock event, race Sunday morning, and come home on Sunday night late. Gas and hotel are covered (or if you want to call it camping, you can camp out at the site), you just have to get your own food and maybe buy me the occasional Monster to keep me awake.

If I have to choose, I would rather have friends than sleep. My 2 cents.

Tons of fun. We finished 3rd and gave it all what had. The nifty weld we did at KOH to raise the hood 3" finally broke and the front grill dropped back down. In doing so, it popped the lower radiator hose off and drained all the coolant (on the next to last last). We fixed her up and hit the course again... out of contention for 1st or 2nd, but still competitive for a podium, so I drove it like a stole it (overheating, no PS again, and the coms laid down, so my navigator - Mike Bradley - is directing old school trophy truck style... LOL) and we finished 3rd.

Here's the last lap.

Alan - suggestion for video

i know you cant do it yet, but itd be awesome to add on the mph/rpm or other realtime engine info to the video

Theres a couple of cheaper odb2 scanners that hook right into a laptop that could record the info from a race
