Temperature gauge
#1
I was driving down the road the other day and my vehicle temp got up to almost 260 (red lined). I was on the freeway so I couldnt pull over right away. I turned my heater on and with in a matter of minutes it dropped back down to 210 (normal). Since then my temp has not gone over 210.

I believe if it were my radiator or thermostat the problem would continue.

Does anyone have an idea why this happend or what I can check to figure out what the problem is.

Sounds like the t-stat stuck. Good move on the heater tho, alot of people do not know that trick

I have not had a problem with the temp since that first time but now when I get into my Jeep after it has been sitting for a while it is making noise that sounds like a bird on crack. It dies down after the Jeep heats up a little, Mike told me it could be a belt. I need to check it out this weekend befor something bad happens.
