Taxes

Do any of you have any recommendations for a tax guy?

I use complete tax. it's an online tool that walks you through everything pretty well. Mine aren't overly complex but they're not simple either. The good part is you can make all of you entries and figure out your refund. You only pay when you submit.

the basic tax prep is free right now:

I'm afraidmofmmijenbecause I want to see about deducting my tools and also I got married... Is it better to file together or separately ? Questions questions..

My accountant said it's usually better to file jointly than 'married filing separately'. You can write off your tools as long as you itemize and file. You were on a 1099 for part of 2012, right?

Yes I was, for two months.

I use Turbo Tax, they also have a free version online, but I'm not sure what that includes. I've always heard filing jointly was usually better but I'm not completely sure on the differences.
