Hello and welcome! Thanks for the PMs and the pics of your rig and M416 trailer. It looks pretty cool! I look forward to helping you with your restoration in any way I can.

Thanks for the welcome!

I recently purchased a 1965 Stevens M416 trailer which looks decent on the outside but needs some work under the bed. It only has a hand brake so its not an A1 variant. The tub has a few dings and dents, especially in the tailgate conversion, but that doesn't bother me. Its purpose will be to carry our shooting gear to the desert.

Thanks to forum user 2ndChance for stopping by today and taking a look at it in-person. We just live a few miles away from each other. I feel much better about the condition and what needs to be done now. We've decided to replace the shocks, leaf springs and spray under the bed with some anti-rust coating. I was relieved to hear the axle and tires are not as bad as I thought but I will go ahead buy a spare tire. I have ordered all the parts and 2ndChance has offered to help replace them.

I can't decide if I should paint the tan-colored areas to match our Jeep (2011 Mango Tango), leave it as-is or just a flat black all over. Below is a picture of the trailer but you can see more pictures of the condition here. I'll create a new thread with updated photos once we start on it.

Welcome! Love those old trailers, I think it'd be cool painted to match the jeep, one of a kind for sure.
