Hi Guys, just wanted to introduce myself. I bought (technicly traded for) Lenny's old rig (you're right, I'm way over my head with this thing from a wheeling standpoint).
Thanks to all of you that reached out to me on vjc to provide me some direction, and helped me find this site. I look forward to meeting you guys, your pictures (especially Colorado) are amazing. On a side note, something I thought was cool, was someone sent me pics of the jeep (I think) before Lenny got it. I'll post them below if you're intersted.
I've got a list of things to do on this jeep before I can get out on it, the coilovers need rebuilt badly. The guys at XMF told me that they don't think the drivers side, front one has any oil left in it, and it's got a major tilt going. I've already picked up the seal kits, but getting the bolts off is turning into a nightmare. My impact and breaker bar won't touch a few of them, and I'm hoping I don't have to cut them. Next step is heat I guess. I'm also going to install a speedometer cable (doesn't appear it ever had one, though it has a gauge), and a fuel sending unit (Lenny told me he didn't put one back in after he moved the fuel cell). I'm going to change the tranny and diff fluids to know they've been recently done (the front could use a new gasket), and that's probably it.
I can't wait to get out, I really want to introduce my son to camping / hiking / fishing, etc. I spent a lot of summers in Alaska as a kid (dad would follow the salmon runs), and I miss fishing and the outdoors like crazy. I can't wait to share those types of experiences with my family.
Here are those old photos (again, not mine, but from anouther 4x4 site), I was told this was in the hammers.
Hope to meet you guys soon; and thanks in advance for any help you can give me on getting oriented to this sport.
